Nestled amidst the bustling city of Kuantan, Grand Darul Makmur Hotel offers a serene retreat for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. From the moment you step into the elegant lobby, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a sense of tranquility that sets the tone for your stay. The hotel's location is strategic, situated close to key attractions and business centers, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers. Upon arrival, I found the check-in process to be efficient, with the staff displaying professionalism and courtesy. The rooms at Grand Darul Makmur Hotel are spacious, well-appointed, and meticulously clean. I stayed in a deluxe room with modern amenities such as a comfortable bed, flat-screen TV, and a well-stocked minibar. The panoramic views from the room were breathtaking, offering a glimpse of the city skyline or the lush greenery surrounding the hotel. One of the highlights of my stay was the dining experience at the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast buffet offered a wide array of delicious options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. Whether you prefer local Malaysian cuisine or international dishes, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The attentive staff made sure that every guest's dining needs were met, adding to the overall dining pleasure. The hotel's facilities are impressive, including a fully-equipped fitness center and a refreshing swimming pool. After a long day of exploring the city, I found solace in unwinding by the poolside, soaking in the serene ambiance and indulging in some well-deserved relaxation. Furthermore, the hotel's commitment to cleanliness and safety measures is commendable, especially in light of current global circumstances. I felt reassured knowing that stringent hygiene protocols were in place throughout the property. Overall, my experience at Grand Darul Makmur Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. Sun Inns Rest House Kuantan

Arrived at the guesthouse for check in quite late at mid nite. Booked for 2 rooms and requested for side-by-side rooms or very near to each other. At 1st they wanted to allocate at 2 different places which I declined. Finally, only given rooms facing slightly each other. Was informed beforehand that water heater in one of the rooms does not work, so…have to accept since we have no other choice. Have to enter different entrance from the reception area to get to our rooms as this place is of shoplots building. No lifts & have to walk up the staircase which is also not clean properly. Rooms condition are bad & not clean properly. Curtain and it’s railing are about to collapse! Linens & bedsheets have visible stains with a few ink/pen scratches on a few spots. Towels are faded with a few have holes on them. Phones in the room didn’t work or no connection to reception when tried to complain. As we are tired and lazy to go down to reception, we tried calling the reception many times using own phone but nobody bothers to pick up. At last, we use the towel and our own shirts as linen to cover the dirty linen. Lock (inside & outside) at toilet Door is broken & main entrance door only use the doorknob lock in one of the rooms. Leakage on the bottom part of the sink. Found left over rubbish in plastic bag from previous tenant(?) maybe behind the bedside table. What a mess we are in! Rooms equipped with TV but only a few channels are accessible. No fridge, provide with jug ( but you have to go down to pantry area located next to reception to get hot water) & 2 mugs. No tea/coffee/sugar & mugs have lipstick stain on them. Wifi service is stated as available but you can’t get connection from the rooms area actually…so don’t bother & dont waste time trying to get the connection. Will not stay at any of the Sun Inns chain in future.

Cathayana Hotel Kuantan

PLUS Big spacious room Clean Big spacious bathroom cum changing room Private parking lot Simple breakfast available CON Lack of security Staff a bit relaxed on enforcing new (Covid-19) normal Some room dirty and smelly (of ciggie smell) Simple breakfast (not much choice at all) Parking can be a bit limited during peak period When I arrived, staff didn't bother to enforce the self check in for contact tracing and temperature taking. So, if someone is sick or having a fever, he/she can easily enter to stay I was given a room which smelled horribly of smoking smell and the walls were tainted with dirt and smudge. If i am forced to stay in this room, i would move out ! Luckily, they gave me a totally different room (clean and no ciggie smell) after I complained. The 'reassigned' room was clean and spacious but a bit devoured of furnishing. Lighting was dimmed for my taste There was a 40” TV on wall. However, I didn't check for channels Bed was comfy enough. I brought my own pillows Air con was bad as the small aircon (I am guessing it was a 1 HP unit) could bare cope with the size of the room Bathroom was a surprise. It has a built-in changing room and ironing table/iron. I liked the toilet and shower were separated as the shower water would not wet the WC area. Toiletries such as soap,. shampoo and shower gel were provided as in 2 pairs of clean bath towels. Water pressure and hot water were adequate for a good shower. There a 'rain-shower' if you like that The biggest minus was the lack of security as one can enter the 1st floor indoor parking without any security checking. To make matter worse, anyone can enter the rooms' floors from the parking bay Breakfast was simple affair with white rice with ikan masak lemak and cried koay-teow. Adequate for quickie hit and run. Generally, staff was reasonably friendly especially the breakfast crew and the sole male house-keeper though they hesitated making guests to wear face-masks when in the hotel premise Internet speed was very bad (less than 5 mbps) though reception signal was good in my room Good for a 1 nite stay. Female guest is to be wary 'lack of security' from car park to room

Due to some business I had to find a hotel on the spot and the price for walk-in to this hotel is relevant and there's not too much differences from the promo online. I really enjoyed my 2 days and 1 night here. The room is very small so it might not really suitable if you want to bring your kids. But the room has such a nice deco. They have a large tv installed in the room, a fan, an aircond, iron board, iron, heater, hair dryer and sajjada. They arranged everything neatly so that everything could fit inside that room. The heater works well. The towel is quite old i guess cuz its quite rough. The lock for my toilet door is not working at that time but since I stay alone so it doesnt really matter. They have almost everything at their lobby. They sell junk foods, drinks and also other necessities. My wireless mouse was not working that night and I need to complete my work so I had to get out to buy batteries at 10pm. Luckily they sell it at the lobby so it really save me. The breakfast is quite mediocre, just OK. But its not bad. From the front hotel, you can see Berjaya Megamall and also KMC. If you are hungry, there's Ayam Penyet restaurant just across the road. There's also a lot of places nearby you can go to eat. Other than that, I dont have any noise issue while staying there. Lastly, the workers over there are so friendly. They use a polite tone and they also smile to the customer. There's one male staff who is very good in attending the customer. I literally ask the same question thrice and he still manage to answer with a smile. There's also no problem with parking, they'll provide you a coupon. I'm a girl and I think that place seems quite safe to stay alone. Thats all my review.

Loved the stay, resort is beautiful with well manicured gardens and grounds. The only blip was the F&B options, as there was only one outlet open with very limited menu. Pool and villa was super clean and comfortable, will definitely come back!

For the price I paid, the location was the best thing about this hotel. It was across Kuantan City Mall and then East Coast Mall behind that. Some eating places near or around the hotel although some of these tend to open late in the morning. There's one shop that opens till midnight about 10m away. Check-in was prompt and efficient however I didnt like the room (Rm 213) I got: it was hot like an oven as it is facing the afternoon sun (it was the room behind the flagpoles on level 2). The aircon was set to 17 when I got inside (red flag) and it was just blowing warm air from the time I got in (around 1pm) and even at night (and you can hear the noise from the aircon). I was sweaty and couldnt sleep. There's no point complaining as it was almost midnight (thought the aircon will turn cooler as it was drizzling in the evening). Will I stay in this hotel again? If I get assigned to a better room - perhaps. Tip: Check the aircon setting right after you enter the room after check-in. If it is set to very low (like 17) and the room feels warm - request to change the room.
