熊本市の北部にある植木温泉。いくつかの温泉宿がありましたが、この日の私たちの宿泊先は「旅館 平山」です。部屋数は１０室余りほどの小さなお宿でした。 温泉の泉質が素晴らしいという評判でしたが、それは間違いなく本当でした。「美人の湯」とか「美容液に浸かっているようだ」と形容される温泉は日本中にいくつもあって、私たちもいろんな美人の湯に入ってきましたが、ここの泉質はナンバー１だと思いました。お風呂上がりの肌触りも、ぜんぜん違うんですよ。 料理も素晴らしかったです。食事は部屋食となっていましたが、私たちのお隣の部屋に用意されていて、それもよかったです。私たちがいただいた夕食は「身土不二プラン」という会席料理でした。特別豪華な食材をふんだんに使っているわけではありませんが、熊本の旬の食材を見事に調理していて、とてもおいしかったです。朝食も、焼き魚を温めなおすコンロがついているなどの心配りも感じらました。

昨年秋、熊本県北部の温泉宿に宿泊しました。高価なお宿ではありませんでしたが、接客も料理もよく、なによりも温泉の泉質がトロットロでとてもよい温泉だと思いました。その時、宿泊していた熊本の方たちから、この辺り、熊本の北部には有名舎ないけど良い温泉が点在していることを聞きました。そんなお宿を探して見つけたのが、植木温泉にある旅館平山です。 今回、熊本北部を調べるまで、「植木温泉」は知りませんでした。そこにある小さなお宿、「旅館 平山」は知るべくもありませんでした。 「平山」は、10室余りの小さな旅館で、私たちの部屋は、普通の和室でした。楽しみにしていた温泉はというと、本当にトロットロで、よく言われる「化粧水に浸かっているよう」なんです。風呂上がりのお肌の感触が明らかに違うんです。この泉質は、私史上最高ではないかと思いました。 「身土不二プラン」と名付けられて夕食は、私たちの部屋のお隣の客室でいただきました。高価な食材が並ぶわけではありませんが、熊本の食材が美しく調理されていて、次々とやってくる料理はどれも美しくておいしかったです。

The menu for dinner is superb, so much that we could not finish! Breakfast is great and just nice portioned. Onsen is very traditional and well adorned. Will visit just for food! Great service too from the warm-hearted staff! They waved hands until our car is out of sight! 💕

菊池市境に近い植木温泉の川べりにある温泉旅館です。雨の中日帰り入浴で利用させていただきました。泉質は単純硫黄温泉で重曹を含むツルツルぬるぬるの湯で、湯温もちょうどよい４１度弱でゆっくり浸かれるとても気持ち良い温泉でした。温泉分析表には丁寧に説明が記載されていました。機会があれば宿泊したい温泉宿です。
