Popular Kunming 4-star Hotels

We booked this place at our end of spring festival holidays, after a series of bad overpriced hotels, so arriving here was a very pleasant surprise! The location is very central, in the middle of a busy store and food area, but it's still quieter than any other hotel we stayed in. You are basically the only people living on the roof of this building, it's great! The only downside of this area is that it smells a bit like barbecue outside, but I love barbecue so it's not so bad. The room is huge! There are 2 couch areas, 1 terrace with a small table that we used to eat some takeout, there is also a small kitchen and bathroom in the terrace area. There is also a second terrace with a huge outdoor bathtub, surrounded by plants, great! Only wished it had a bit more light in the tub at night. Remember to bring some candles for best enjoyment. The bed is the biggest bed I've ever slept in, with comfortable pillows and quilt. The main bathroom is also very big, it has a nice shower, and a sauna! One thing about bathroom is that it doesn't have a fan, and it was a bit stinky in the morning. Also we had some trouble with the hot water, had to let the water run for a really long time to get it warm enough for a shower. Other small things that prevent me from giving 5/5 is that it's missing small things like a place to hang towels or robe in the bathroom, and the hot water problem.

The room is very clean, the towels and quilts are closed with plastic bags, and the breakfast is very rich. Close to the subway station, convenient to the airport.

This hotel had always been top in my list of hotels for family staying, shopping and eating since it is so convenient to the Kun Ming Old Street and to all the shopping centers and eateries. About an hour travel from Chang Shui Airport and very accessible by taxi and 20 mins walk from Dong Fang Plaza Subway station. Good customer service, fast and friendly staff. Easy check in and check out process. Maybe the breakfast is kinda of plain and not very suitable for kids, nice view of Kun Ming City at 28th Floor during breakfast time.

You'd want to stay here for the location, just northwest of the hotel is a street with a bunch of breweries and restaurants, including Salvadors, an American-opened restaurant/pub that all the foreigners go to and has a great vibe for someone looking for a more lovely atmosphere and solid Western food. The hotel is on the north side of cuihu lake which is nice to walk around and also hosts Yunnan University, though you need to register thru a qr code to enter the university. Hotel room itself was quite small but fair for its price. Citigo is like a boutique small office hotel, there's a meeting room downstairs you can book for meetings or just work out of, and a small bar/cafe you can order drinks from. At night around ten? Or eleven pm they serve Yunnanese noodles. Lounge area outside the hotel lobby is large and overlooks the lake, nice spot for remote workers like me and you can grab some beers from the bar. Would definitely use for my next visit to Kunming, largely for the location which can't be beat.

I had a very nice stay at this hotel. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. The room was super comfortable with the small balcony overlooking the Flower and Birds Market. The hotel is in a good location, a short walk from the Ancient city and the subway line that goes to the airport. The staff was friendly and nice.

The hotel is close to the airport, perfect for late arrivals or very early departure. The bed it’s huge!! On a negative note: They offer a free shuttle to the airport, and the departure time can be discussed based on individual needs. Honestly I wish the personnel to be less pushy. In our case we agreed to meet downstairs and leave by 6:00. The shuttle pick up point is in front of the hotel so there is no much preparation needed in advance. I woke up at 5:30, my bag was done, all I wanted to do was to take a quick shower to start my day after a not-so-long sleep. Yet I got interrupted many times while I was preparing because the personnel would keep calling/knocking at the door ( I even forgot my charging cables and toothbrush there 😕). I understand they care about having everyone on time, but this is too much!! You feel being treated like a kid. Honestly I’d rather take a taxi next time, and pay for it. The airport is really 10-15 min far away, so not a big deal!!!

Within walking distance of Kunming Train Station and South Ring Road metro station. Many f&b outlets in the vicinity, and tea shops, convenience stores, and a bus-stop where u can take Bus 31 to GuanDu Ancient City. Hotel room is clean, no cigarette smell, water and even yoghurt and oranges provided. Service is good. Bathroom door cannot close properly so water leaks out from a gap. Otherwise is perfect.

Best? Nah. Above average? Closer. Just an average hotel close to the airport? More like it. The hotel looks classy, but it just looks like it. Beds are hard, some lights in the room don’t work, and the walls are really thin. You’ll often hear people next door or in the hallway. Luckily they provide earplugs being this close to the airport, so that helps sleeping. Interactions with front desk staff were strange. My Chinese is conversational level, and upon asking this person about the airport shuttle schedule, he was talking so fast I had no idea what he was saying. I asked him to repeat it, and he just said it the same way. I gave up and decided to check the next morning. The next morning the bus drivers were pretty unhelpful as well. They kept directing passengers to buses, and after asking where we should go, we didn’t get an answer. So we just stood there, while they kept telling other passengers where to go. I decided to take a Didi instead. The breakfast greeter was also pretty lazy. She sat down at one of the tables, and when people walked in she would shout at them to scan their room cards at the front desk to have breakfast. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the fact that they’re 3 minutes away from the airport.

The experience was excellent :-)) We got a free upgrade to a bigger and very quiet room. The location of hotel is perfect in the center of the city. We had also the underground in less than 5 minutes walking distance. The given recommendations were great and personal fitting. Even we got tips for our further trip in Yunnan. We only can say: 了不起 ！！！

Front desk was kind and accommodating. The room, though small, was well-designed and extremely cozy. The rooftop breakfast lounge and bar was a welcome escape from the business of downtown Kunming. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to the city.
