Service was good as expected of a ryokan. Great food served at dinner and we had premium wagyu shabu shabu. Snacks and tea provided in the room was refreshing. Quiet and peaceful. Loved the private bath which we paid a reasonable fee. Overall very value for money.

I have been to Kaohsiung once before and it was a good experience. This time I brought my children with me, hoping to see fireflies. Unfortunately, the weather was bad and it kept raining, so I missed it again.

Time-honored hot spring. The open-air private hot spring for a single fee is a bit cold this season. The service is very good. Everything else is fine.

I stayed here again after 8 years, and everything is still the same. It is a very old Japanese-style hotel, and the facilities are a bit old, but the hygiene and service have been maintained. The hotel has a shuttle bus to pick up at Garden Station at 4:10 and 5:10 every afternoon. If you miss it, you have to go by yourself. The hot spring pool is a bit small, and it is crowded with about 5 or 6 people, but the total number of guests is not large, so it is still okay to go at different times.

Ctrip should really consider not cooperating with this hotel. Half an hour after booking, I found something wrong and applied for a refund. No matter what, it doesn't work. It's illegal and forceful! What's more, you have to check in before 18:00, otherwise you won't be able to check in. I'm worried that according to the custom of little Japan, if I don't have enough time, I might not be able to stay. Even if you rush to work, you still don’t have enough time.

I stayed in his annex seven years ago. This time I stayed in the main hotel. It was as good as ever! The Japanese-style rooms are simple and exquisite, and the hot springs in Kakikiri are particularly stunning. You must experience it!

A hotel located in the mountains and forests, with a beautiful environment and close to nature. It provides very traditional Japanese-style food, dinner and breakfast, and the dining process is also very Japanese-style. It is highly recommended for those who want to experience the taste and dining atmosphere of traditional Japanese cuisine. The Japanese-style room we stayed in was a bit outdated. Because it was on the first floor and there was a small garden outside the living room, it was relatively humid. The smell of moisture was also relatively strong, which was a drawback.

I’m no expert by any means, but having had the opportunity to experience two ryokans this trip (first in Osaka, then Kyoto) with similar prices but vastly different quality, I feel compelled to compare and comment. Service: Generally felt rushed during our stay. Check-in was technically at 3pm but shuttle was at 4pm, so we did not arrive until 4:30. Similarly, check out was at 10am, but shuttle was at 9:20. At breakfast, there was a sign nudging you to pay before 10am as it gets busy then. For an experience that’s suppose to be relaxing, this took away from it. Room: In dire need of renovation. Room was visibly old and had a musty smell from the moment of walking in. There would be whiffs of piss when the AC wasn’t circulating air. In-room baths were stained and scary to look at, let alone use Bath: Public bath was tiny so naturally, everyone opts to pay extra to book a slot in one of the two private baths on the property. Depending on when you check in, you may not get a slot until the next morning. That said, the private bath had incredible views and was the highlight of this experience, for sure. Food: Mediocre at best compared our first experience, which we had in-room. Presentation was good, but flavors were just a bit off. Breakfast was better than dinner. All in all, our Osaka ryokan experience felt like luxury hotel with spa with authenticity while this felt more like a beat down budget hotel turned tourist trap.

It was incredibly healing to be able to enjoy the forest view from both the open-air hot spring and the public bathhouse. Dinner was a bit bad, so I think it would be better to choose the more expensive menu even if it costs a bit more.

Really bad. The hallway is dimly lit, the room smells musty, and even though there is no safe, it is a room with a key that makes you worry about loose security. You can hear the voices next door and in the corridor. The bathroom in the room also has a strange smell. The waitress didn't even seem to carry her luggage up to the third floor. Even though the waitress changed our yukata after seeing us, she changed it to a yukata with a misplaced length. Forgot to prepare tea and pot. I pointed it out and finally prepared it. Since there is nothing to do but drink tea, when I asked for an additional tea bag, he said, "Please drink water," with a half-smile. There is nothing in the shop, and the public bath is small and dirty. I wasn't expecting much from the food, but the quality was as expected. It's a home cooking level, and the drink repertoire is small. I regret why I decided to stay in such a torture room for two nights. I was stunned.
