THIS PLACE IS THE BEST!! The man, Tommy, who runs it is so sweet, helpful, accommodating. I will miss his sandwiches in the morning- if he offers to make one for you, say Yes. They were sooo good. It was a great stay, I arrived after getting caught in a downpour and felt so bad about getting water everywhere but Tommy was so helpful and gave me a spare pair of shoes to wear since mine were soaked through. He gave restaurant recommendations, and I really appreciated his hospitality. The room was comfortable, it’s a quiet place, lights out was around 21:00 I think. It’s a good location, close to a station. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The only thing to be aware of is you cannot drop your luggage off early before the check-in time, and you have to be out of the hostel during the day from like 12-5 or something like that.

Pros: First of all, the guesthouse was very cozy and pretty!
As soon as I entered, the owner, who spoke English fluently, greeted me very warmly, and until the moment I checked out, he was so, so, so kind that
it was a trip to Kyoto that I left with good memories. The room was clean and had good bedding in a tatami room, so I stayed comfortably 😌 If I ever travel to Kyoto again, I definitely want to go here!!
Cons: It was a little inconvenient to get around because the famous tourist attractions and restaurants in Kyoto were more than an hour away, but it wasn't a big problem, and thanks to that, it was nice to be able to see the beautiful sights of Kyoto👍
Also, there are stairs inside the guesthouse, but they are narrow and high, so it was a little scary. You have to be very, very careful when going down.
