This time I stayed in a tatami room on the 2nd floor, facing the window with plenty of sunlight. The room is equipped with air-conditioning, electric fan, small table and cushions, mosquito-proof feather night light, and 3 charging sockets. There are 2 bathrooms (shower) and toilets on the 1st floor. 2 bathrooms, 2 sinks, hair dryers, cotton swabs, etc., 2 public bathhouses near the old house (elderly soup 430 yen, remember to bring your own bath towels), bicycle rental 500 yen for 24 hours Pros: The owner is very friendly English Not bad, the tatami mats of the century-old house have a faint rice scent, bath towels are provided, luggage can be stored for free, the environment is beautiful and quiet Disadvantages: The location is located in a residential area, so there is a bus stop (Marutamachi Chiko Huiin) about 20 minutes away from the subway minute

AMAZING!! This is one of my favourite hotels/ hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Feels so traditionally Japanese and the small touches around the dormitories are lovely. From the calming music that plays all day to the amazing bathroom/ shower facilities, we didn’t want to leave! Towels, hairdryers and toiletries are complimentary. The 206 bus runs from Kyoto train station near Dormitory Sui and then it’s about a 5 minute walk. Whilst it’s not in the centre of town, it’s still very close. The woman working on reception was SO lovely and couldn’t do enough to help us. Side note: if you book through Booking.com, you will still need to pay city tax when you arrive. We were not aware of this. Can’t recommend this place enough when you’re in Kyoto!
