Disappointing - great location, and a well kept 100 year old hotel, but very expensive for the product offered. Room was small, aircon antiquated, facilities limited, dining closes far too early in the evenings, and the swimming pool was very dirty.

The snacks and refrigerator in the suite are empty, and I call every day to ask for water. No one picks up the busy food delivery service on weekends, or takeaway is fast. The point is that it is completely different from the room in the picture. It is recommended to look at the official website. Anyway, it is uncomfortable to live in. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times, and each visit makes me feel even more welcomed and at home. The hotel consistently impresses me with its exceptional quality and customer care. The newly renovated rooms, beautiful oceanfront garden, and stunning pool enhance the overall experience. The hotel offers great dining options, including the newly opened Whaling Bar & Restaurant, which adds to the culinary delights. As usual, the staff show a high commitment to guest satisfaction. I received exceptional personalized service from front desk associates Ana Benziger and Nona Hardina, who went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was superb. Their attention to detail and dedication to guest satisfaction made my experience truly memorable. I deeply appreciate their efforts and professionalism. Thank you to the entire team for making my visits so memorable. I look forward to returning soon.

It was our first time staying here with our little one and we absolutely loved it! On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the Hotel manager, Arturo Baylon in the lobby who was very kind & welcoming. Arturo showed us around & shared the hotel’s amazing history with us. Our room was clean and super comfortable - overall, the staff was friendly, accommodating and made our stay great, we’ll be back again!

Honestly wish I could give this place 5 stars as we were so excited for a couples luxury vacation. The staff made us feel less than, and were not welcoming or informative throughout our stay. You will sleep amazing,.

We booked an ocean view king and requested a quiet room. Upon arrival the manager announced we’d been upgraded to a suite. I asked if the suite was quiet. He said yes. We took the room. When we went to bed last night, realized the bedroom is next to the kitchen ventilation and the could not turn it off.

We love staying at La Valencia (we even got married there). The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect for staying in La Jolla. Plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The service is always amazing and the staff really make the overall experience. Mike at the pool bar is amazing at making everyone feel like a VIP and has impeccable service.

Our stay at La Valencia was amazing. The staff was so accomodating and every request was met with a prompt and cheerful response.
Only negative was the TV's didn't work when we arrived and we had to get maintenance to come and fix them.
The plumbing (toilet) is a bit stodgy but probably due to the age of the building.
I would have positioned the second TV for straight on viewing from the bed. It was directly to one side.
These are all small things and I would give the hotel a 9 out of 10. We would certainly come back.
