Lancaster was only ever going to be an overnight for us, and this seemed like one of the best options (in the center) seeing the Marriot was fully booked. I was able to book this on points otherwise it would have not felt worth the money. Walking in you are greeted with the brand-wide Holiday Inn doft which oozes cheapness. The carpets in the reception area are so filthy you can actually see the years of dirt. There was a fly buzzing around and everything in the lobby felt run-down dirty. The receptionist checking us in was fine, the room itself was OK. The air conditioner made so much noise that it had to be turned off. The pressure in the bathroom sink was weak, but the shower was passable. There was of course the customary hair on the towel. Sleep-wise, we slept well despite having the elevators directly outside the room and hearing the "pling" every time it stopped on the floor. The room had a good sized modern TV, and the beds were comfortable. Carpets well worn, room was dated. Didn't try the pool as the heater was apparently broken.
