Popped in today for a Sunday carvery with friends. Gotta say they did one of the best carveries I've been to in a while. One of our party was celiac so the waitress checked with the chef to see what they could and couldn't have from the carvery. We then ordered our choice of meat at the table which was brought out on a warm plate. We then went to help ourselves to the veggies. 4 types of potato, roast, boiled, dauphinoise and mashed plus around 7 different veggies, all cooked beautifully. I initially thought the meat portion was a bit small but in reality it was enough and definitely a case of quality over quantity. With a few drinks on top, it was a perfect meal. Great work the County Lodge and Brasserie. Thank you.

In the end we did not stay. The boiler had broken so the room was freezing cold, and there was signs of mould on the walls. Our 8 year old son is asthmatic so we could not stay.

On first impressions this place shouldn’t be open .The room was ok very low budget no plug for a bath, the shower controls have been bypassed so you have adjust the temp by the tapsWhen I arrived at 6pm the front door was closed and a notice was on the window to ring for service which I did and was told to enter.I saw the receptionist/caretaker and she gave me a key for a room around the back of the property,I asked if the restaurant and bar were going to be open tonight and was told they would be.I went to my room had a shower and went down to look fora meal and found the place in darkness and locked up. I went over the road to the Carnforth inn for a drink and asked about food over there and was told it hadn’t been open for a while as they have no staff. The landlady knew that as her son was the last chef they had and he left. The problem is they advertise a bar and a restaurant. I haven’t had breakfast yet I’m told it’s continental breakfast but from what I could see it’s breakfast bars and pot porridge not happy considering they charged me £71.

Stayed here last night, can honestly say it wasn't good at all, not really bothered about the car park as everyone keeps talking about I'm more concerned about the accommodation, the pictures are not what we walked into, it is very very dated, the carpet was awful and dirty I didn't not wear anything on my feet, the the bathroom was so dull an dark and dated, the extractor fan was so loud and on for ages we ended up using the bathroom in the dark, we had to knock on the room next door as they had left there's on most of the night we couldn't sleep!!!! The mattress didn't do any favours even to sit on the bed you would crush the springs then they would pop back up a short time after, other guests showed no consideration for other guests by slamming doors it was an awful stay, if we hadn't of been out for food an drinks we would of drove to somewhere else or even home! One of the worst nights stay we've ever had unfortunately, I'm sorry to leave this review buy if I had of read the honest reviews before hand I wouldn't of booked it.

The place is going to be out of business very soon for a number of reasons, we had drinks there and every glass the bartender pulled out was dirty and one wine glass even had mould on it ready to use! But thankfully the lovely man behind the bar named Michael went above with his service and beyond and checked through so many glasses to find one suitable to drink from, very polite young man and friendly to say he was doing everything himself with no help. It is a very unorganised place no wonder it is so quiet, can’t seem to respect their own staff or customers with the state or glasses, got dirty looks from a lady sat on the computer too. Only reason I can give it more than 1 star is because of the man behind the bar, won’t be returning here and I suggest you don’t either

We had a celebration party here. Was the perfect venue. The manager was very obliging and catered to all our needs. The food was delicious and a good night was had by all. I would definitely recommend a visit to the Coffee shop too and the restaurant. Lovely place.

Visited for a meal and very disappointed. Arrived and quickly shown to our table then offered a menu, no one returned to take a drinks order. The bar was not busy 4 tables taken. Ordered drinks from the bar and then food order taken. Waited 50 minutes for food to arrive. Orderd chicken and ham hock pie with fries red cabbage and mushy peas what came was a very undercooked pie so left the pastry two pieces of chicken in it, fries and hard garden peas. The meals were literally thrown on the table, and waitress dashed off not asking if we required any sauces etc never mind give me time to ask about mushy peas and red cabbage. My companion had hunters chicken reportedly nice. No one came to enquire if the food was okay. When the plates were collected I explained about the meal and the waitress apologised however no reduction on the bill and I left still feeling hungry. It appeared to be quiet but service and quality of food was very disappointing frozen peas as a veg on all plates coming out of the kitchen a little boring and easy and therefore I would not recommend or return sadly

We called in at the County for a quick lunch as we were passing through Carnforth. Although the car park seemed quiet we decided to give this place a whirl after all it was midweek. The overflowing ashtrays outside were very off-putting but we decided to continue. The dining room itself is lovely and a very nice setting, light and airy, menu simple but adequate and catered for everyone. Only downfall was the wait, as explained from the only staff member in the restaurant, was only one chef was on duty. Seemed to be a few "managers" loitering about, but they failed to offer assistance to this lone staff member. Staff members attitude was loving and very apologetic for wait. Food when arrived was lovely and flavoursome, credit to a stressed chef! Would call in again, hopefully staffing issues will be better and staff not so harassed.
