My parents in law just returned from a 13 night stay at Club Valena. They stayed at a private rented apartment which is owned by an Irish lady called Caroline and managed by a woman called Vicky. This was my parents in law first holiday in over 4 and half years, so needless to say they were really looking forward to spending their holiday in what they were led to believe was an apartment that is up market and comfy. When they entered the apartment my mother in law noticed straight away that the apartment was full of the owner's family photo’s hanging on the walls. My mother in law said she was horrified from her initial tour of the apartment. The apartment is rented as a 2 bedroom, the 2nd room is the utility room with a net curtain (no door) and a bunk bed. My sister in law travelled over for 3 nights and slept on the couch! There was no standard of cleanliness! The apartment is very tired as were the bed sheets and mattress! They called Vicky the next morning after my mother in law had to ***** the sheets that were on the bed and replace them with what she said was the best sheets out of a bad bunch. The mattress was disgusting and filthy. They requested a new mattress and it was replaced on their 2nd day. My mother in law spent her first day of their holiday cleaning the apartment, the floors were dirty, she had to disinfect the floors. She noticed in the cupboard ,the owner's suitcases of clothes and children's toys in the bedroom. She had to fumigate the apartment twice! She said there were 2 wardrobe drawers beneath their bed, when she pulled them out, there were 6 dead cockroaches inside. The bathroom had a bath that was rusted so badly, it had a big hole in it. The apartment is advertised with air con, there is an AC unit with a paying metre!! The cooker was full of grease and they could not use it. They called Vicky with their feedback and she apologised, the shocking part of the conversation was when Vicky admitted that she has not stepped into that apartment in over 10 years!! Maybe Vicky should stay 1 night and see how comfortable she feels living with the cockroaches and sleeping in worn bedsheets!! One positive did come out of their stay, they got to meet a lovely Irish couple that lived 2 doors up from them called Phil and JIm who allowed them to use their apartment on their departure day, to get changed and leave their luggage there when at the pool. The apartment price is 450 euro per week. It is safe to say that they won’t be returning to stay at this so called 2 bedroom apartment.
