"Outstanding hotel, with friendly and attentive staff. Cesar Manrique´s father lived there and the restoration has been sympathetically carried out (the hotel opened in 2023). The views are fabulous - volcanic mountains and sea from on high. The food was excellent although it would stretch the budget if you were to stay for on extended period - we had two nights. A minor quibble was the constant muzak - we could have done without it. All in all a very pleasant experience."

Villa Vik - Hotel Boutique - Adults Only

"The Hotel Villa Vic, Arrecife, lanzarote is a small boutique hotel with about 14 rooms. We were half board and took lunch on 5 of the 6 days there. It is very well appointed and delightfully presented. It is dramatically understaffed and our stay was marked by moments of chaos and high farce with the guests helping to clear up and sort things our for themselves. Janet, my wife has a lactose intolerance. The menu is restricted and she found dinner on the first night difficult. Next morning we asked Abdul, the sole member of staff if her intolerance could be accommodated, he said yes and would inform the chef, he didn't and dinner that night and subsequent nights was a matter of giving her a meal with the lactose component extracted. Very few people were eating at night so a different sauce for her should have not been a problem. Wednesday and Thursday breakfasts were utterly chaotic, the young lady could not cope on her own with greeting new arrivals, waiting on tables, cleaning up, coffee, and forgetting peoples' orders. On Thursday we started breakfast at 8.45 am and at 10.30 Janet was told the coffee machine had broken - I had given up as had a zoom call. In a nutshell, this place is somewhere between the white lotus and faulty towers. Clearly, one person could not cope with the differing demands of so many guests. I have to say that I could add other points to this but the above serves to give a good picture."

"Just back from our slice of Canarian heaven. As always it’s immaculate, carefully maintained and the weather was the icing on the cake. Gill is an absolute gold star. One thing I think would be a great option is to order breakfast from an app, as the staff are so busy and this would be easier for them? I stayed in suite 25 - it was unbelievable. I honestly felt overwhelmed with what to do at first. Loved the hammocks, lying back listening to the waves at night was like a sensory experience!"

"Great views from the balcony although sunbeds and the balcony need a good clean as does the sunbeds and areas around the pool. The apartments are clean on arrival but beds not changed during week. Towels and housekeeping only once during week, which is poor. Beds and furniture need renewing"

Finca Marisa

"From what I understood, the estate was in a decrepit state when the current manager took over and she has been doing her best to renovate it. The result is startlingly impractical but pretty. To access the largest room (which is in a separate building) you need to unlock a narrow door, wiggle your luggage or bikes past a large ornamental lava rock, walk along a narrow slippery stretch between a tiny but deep pool and a wall, which is again blocked by a lava boulder… before reaching a second door that needs unlocking too. I mention the locks because you get four unmarked keys and unlocking requires guesswork. The rooms were clean. The kitchen and bathroom were smelly, but we simply kept the doors closed. More disturbing was the smell of the towels. It was really disturbing. As if the washed laundry of that place wasn’t allowed to dry properly. There are many more things that simply aren’t thought trough and give the place an unfinished DIY home works atmosphere : three different haphazard wifi networks; nowhere to put you shampoo and soap in the shower, no real spot for your clothing, sliding doors that don’t slide and never lock, a minor flood when you take a shower etc. What we did enjoy however was the breakfast (tasty ingredients !), the very friendly staff, and the view. The location is beautiful - calm (apart from barking dogs), sunny with a pretty view. Overall, I enjoyed my stay but the room rates are too high for a place that is in need of professional improvement."

"Recently returned from a week long stay. Despite having a very late arrival due to airline delays, we were welcomed, warmly and efficiently by amazing reception staff. Our room was exceptionally well appointed, next to pool and near cocktail bar, noise was not an issue at any point. The staff themselves amazing, friendly, warm welcoming and determined to help us have the best holiday possible Special mentions for Jose & David behind cocktail bar, anything on or off menu will be presented with flair and love of their craft. Kentia Liliana and Anna made every meal a joy, especially my birthday they went extra mile. The hidden team of grounds staff gardeners housekeepers keep the hotel and rooms sparkling and must also be commended. Could not have asked for more. As repeat guest we will be back"
