I would like to give the reception staff Lisa and Karen 10 out of 10 for wonderful service. I was trying to get a bed for one night and rang the hotel as I'd booked on what I thought was their website - I'd booked the wrong night and couldn't change it. Lisa was the lady I spoke to and she very kindly sorted it for me in such a lovely manner. Then when I arrived Karen was on reception and the welcome was warm and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Personality plus, what an asset! The room was on the small side but comfortable, spotless and had a fabulous view of the city. It is also within walking distance of two theatres, bars and restaurants. A genuine pleasure to stay here, thank you ladies.

The rooms are large, all of them are suites, there is the hotel's own restaurant downstairs, connected to the parking garage, a parking fee of $ 8 a day, the location is in the urban area, the city itself is not large, basically can be walked, it is recommended to stay

The hotel is in a very good location and is easily accessible by car. The room facilities are complete, especially a washing machine and dryer. There are many restaurants downstairs, and it's nice to go downstairs and walk along the river. There is a children's playground within a few minutes' walk.

I had to overnight in Launceston, leaving early the next morning. Thought the Pod Inn proved just about perfect for my needs, starting with the very reasonable tariff. It was my first stay in a pod and possibly won't be my last, though I think staying more than two days would test the friendship. My sleep quality was great but I could imagine things could get a bit claustrophobic after a couple of nights. Otherwise, check-in was good, everything well explained. Pod itself was lockable, comfy, roomy for one and I loved the lighting options. Noise wasn't a problem, though maybe I was lucky on that count. The kitchen was clean if a little small while the common room/dining area more spacious. Common bathroom was clean when I visited but could imagine it becoming pretty grungy. The showers were really good, though. Towels supplied but not soap (or shampoo etc).

Honestly the most incredible hotel experience in Tasmania. I would never dream of staying anywhere else. The luxury and the quality of the room and amenities are second to none. The most accomplished and welcoming hotel staff I’ve come across in Tasmania - thank you for making me feel special. My mother and I felt so welcome and honestly we wanted to extend our day. I loved where it was situated. A short 15min stroll to the town centre but quiet enough to enjoy the tranquility of Tasmania. The beautiful park areas and river views made it feel very intimate and more remote which is ideally what we wanted. Highly recommended. Honestly! Best Tasmanian hotel!!!

We stayed at Leisure Inn Pennyroyal for 2 nights this week, in a 2 bedroom apartment. The building is a quaint old English style building, and our apartment was set over 2 levels - living area on 1st level and 2 bedrooms upstairs. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and included reverse cycle aircon/heating in each living area or bedroom. Free wifi is provided which worked well. Free parking is provided in designated spaces. Our room had double glazing which provided both thermal and noise insulation. The apartment is about a 900m walk to downtown, and is a short walk to the river, where it is again a short walk to Cataract Gorge (with lighting at night time). Highly recommend The Gorge restaurant for dinner. The apartment is adjacent to the Pennyroyal Adventures site which has some fun activities such as ziplining and jumping from a cliff. There are also some restaurants and bars nearby. Be aware that the hotel does charge a surcharge for credit card payments, which we avoided by settling our bill by Eftpos Savings at checkin. I’m happy to use a credit card for booking and preauthorisation, but I don’t see any value in paying extra as a means of payment.

We stayed here as a family of five in a Family Room with private ensuite. We checked in 15 minutes early but the lady was happy to give us the keys to the room. The accommodation is upstairs on top of a pub/pokies. There is no lift so you have to walk up two flights of stairs and carry your luggage. Our room was very spacious with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the main living area. There was a private ensuite separating the queen bed room which was perfect for my parents. The room had basic furniture, a TV, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. My son loved having a bubble bath as we only have a shower at home. The room was clean and the wide windows around the room made a good view of the outside which my son could look out of. Our room was situated next door to the communal kitchen and opposite to the shared bathroom which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance to a shopping plaza, restaurants, a KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coles and Woolworths. The only negative was that our room was situated along a busy main road and at night you could hear all the traffic passing by so we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Also our booking via booking.com said we would get two free welcome drinks for two guests upon arrival but we didn’t get that. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay at Mowbray Hotel and would consider staying here again.

Whilst the accommodation situated behind the pub looks fairly ordinary and potentially run down, we were very pleasantly surprised to find that our family studio for 2 adults and 2 kids, was completely renovated inside, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The separate bedroom with two singles, made if feel very spacious and having a kitchenette with microwave was very handy. Dinner is available onsite at the Riverside Hotel, however we found the food to be fairly ordinary and elected to eat elsewhere on our second night. Being a motel type establishment, it was a little noisy in the mornings but nothing too loud. I think being on the second floor helped this. In terms of accommodation, this is definitely a great value for money option minutes drive from central Launceston.

The rooms are dated, but very clean and the bed was comfortable. They are serviced villas, which was a pleasant surprise! The milk and bathroom amenities were topped up without asking. The staff were friendly and my 2 & 3 year olds adored the “pony” rides. Note for future guests, they are horses not small ponies haha. Great experience none the less and it was just overall fabulous there!

HHelen EWe stayed here on a last minute booking over the March long weekend. We are so glad we did. Susie and Gordon were warm and friendly hosts, who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. We stayed in ‘the residence’ with our two teenage children. It has a lovely new bathroom, a kitchen and a barbecue outside in the patio area. This is where we cooked dinner each night. We also took advantage of the included Continental breakfast each morning. We would highly recommend this B&B and would like to stay here next time we are in Launceston. Thank you Susie and Gordon!
EEzuyVery good hotel, health is a bit biased, if the room has a kitchen will be better, in general I am very satisfied with the hotel, breakfast is delicious, the room is also very good, it is recommended, look at the picture will know...
GGuest UserSTAY HERE!! Location / price / view / service / awesomeness!!! THE OWNER Lets start here! Tim, who is the owner and lives local is sensational and really makes the stay absolutely awesome!!! He has a yarn with all the guests at breakfast (which was included) and makes the effort to ask questions and get to know the guest :) wow - what a difference this makes to a stay! I never realised it until I met Tim - what I also loved was that you can tell he has REAL PRIDE in his business as he talks excitedly about the upgrades he is going through and this excitement for the business flows on to the staff that work for him who were all lovely, happy, friendly and helpful 1. I was upgraded upon checkin - my room was awesome! Top level great views! 2. I had a late checkout which was great as I had a late flight 3. Help with info on where to go and what to see - specifically Tim saying to come down and see him daily if I needed help on where to go 4. Shuttle service to airport help 5. Had an early check in at 12pm - Tim accomodated me as I had an early flight Tim even helped to organise the airport shuttle for me and called them up to secure a good price 😀 what service!! If only all owners took a page out of Tims book THE ROOM Wow! Loved it! Nice, clean with awesome views!! I was lucky to get upgraded and had top floor views over Launceston town and I couldnt wait to head back to the room after a day of exploring The bed was soooooooooooo comfortable and the BEST pillows ive ever experienced - I hope I can find 1 to buy for myself! So good! The shower… hello! What great pressure and hot water is fantastic! Mini fridge and microwave with cutlery if you want to have your own meals (which I did) so was perfect for me and one of main reasons I chose this accom BREAKFAST Amazingggggg fresh fruit!!! Chopped fruit around 8 options - this was the best part for me! Also choices of cereals and juices Toast - white / brown / raisin with jams honey peanut butters Black Coffee You can also upgrade and pay for a hot breakfast If you need parking there is free on the property Lift is quick and easy to use Bags kept at reception safe and sound when needed I have nothing negative to say at all about this accom but they have set the bar high in customer service for me Thanks Tim! Lovely to meet you and thanks for the awesome stay 😀 will be recommending Balmoral on York to all I know
A reasonably priced place for what you get. We stayed in a spa villa for two nights travelling with family (2 adults 1 child). The good? Located only a short drive from Launceston, relatively quiet and clean. Nice and warm with the gas heater in main area. Basic facilities all met with TV, dining table and kitchen with stovetop/oven, toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge/freezer. Two small bedrooms with built in wardrobe space and electric blankets and extra bedding. Basic kitchenware. The not so good/need improving? More cutlery would be great. The water taps in the shower were very hard to get just right and kept vibrating when trying to hit the right spot. A wall panel heater in the bedroom would also be great. The games room was very tired and neglected. However, overall this met our needs. And as an added bonus, an IGA X-Press with hot food and good coffee, newsagent and bottle shop were directly next door (walking distance) and a great park located over the road with a little skate ramp track and playground. Would we stay here again? Yes, we would! Next time we'll need to ask what the big inflatable bear head was about as well.
PPINGVery ordinary hotel, similar to a motel, no service, no elevator, climbing a large suitcase to the third floor, exhausted, Launceston is very small, very quiet,
Stayed 1 night in room # 1 The room was warm, clean and quiet. Comfortable warm bed and great shower. Check in was quick and easy. Very friendly owners. The Mews feels more like a home rather than a motel and is situated in a lovely area within walking distance to the CBD. Secure off street parking
While there was nothing seriously wrong with the place, there were many things not right. You would expect a 4 person room to have things like 4 sets of glasses or cutlery, but nope. The car parks were also filled with old junk (lounge suite, fridge etc.) and are a very tight fit, if someone doesn't park perfectly don't expect to get your car in. The rooms are very tired and dated. Our room had gaudy pink tiles in the bathroom with a shub rather than a proper shower. We used the laundry once, paid the $2 to use the washing machine which didn't complete its cycle and we returned to find clothes that hadn't been rinsed or spun. The many notes around the rooms made the whole place feel unfriendly - I get that extra costs have to be charged in some cases but a simple welcome book like most motels have that outline the rules is far nicer. Overall though the rooms were clean and the guests were quiet. If you're just looking for a place to stay this place is OK. It worked for us and I'd stay here again if it was just for a night or two.
BBarrAs a solo traveller just spending one night in Launceston, The Star Hotel was the ideal choice. It is centrally located and street parking was easy to find and free between 17.30 and 09.00 next day. The room itself was compact but comfortable with an ensuite. The friendly, efficient female staff member was able to help with local advice and when I decided to have dinner later, the food and service were exceptional. Three see a couple of stair cases to negotiate but really no trouble. This place was a highlight of my travel in Tasmania.
GGuest UserIt’s is a beautiful hotel! It’s clean and has a lot of comfort items to make you feel at home. Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. Environment was pleasant and welcoming. The staff was the nicest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. They were always friendly and asked how our stay was going every time walked in the door.
GGuest UserDISGUSTING! We entered the vuilding and immediately a disgusting smell of dirty feed crashed into our noses! We honestly wanted to throw up and at 7pm when we arrived there was already nobody in the reception to talk to or to complain to. My bunkbed had a chewing gum sticked on it (photo attached). At night people were loud till 1am and in the morning at 5am they were back on, behaving as if it was noon time. We complained the morning after to the hostal that did not assume any responsability, saying nobody ever complained. No compensation whatsoever, but how could we prove the disgusting smell of the building?! NEVER AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED.
