Hotel le Petit Vatel - Centre Ville & Plage

What an awful hotel. Keep away. Actually, it has no place in being referred to as a hotel. You can only check in after 17:00. No one is at reception prior to that. So if you are not happy, it is impossible to find another place to stay. The room was tiny, smelled and the bathroom/shower was really something you wouldn’t expected to find even in a youth hostel. When we tried to speak to the owner, he refused to answer our messages and calls. We lost all the money we paid for our stay, but we were so happy to find somewhere else. Do yourselves a favor, keep away from this place.

Friendly staff and good location in the city center. The room was well supplied however the bathroom would use a little renovation. We enjoyed our stay in Le Petit Vatel and if we were supposed to visit Le Havre again, we would definitely book a room there again :-))

Booked this joint for six nights. After 1,100km train journey got there late (after 9pm) which was not my fault (delay at M****ille due to passenger illness) but which led to me being locked out of hotel, having to book with the Ibis for the night, and then the cancellation of rest of stay. There then followed many days of dispute between me, *********** & the hotel. Both the hotel & *********** were extremely polite (it seems to be all the rage these days) but ultimately they were obsessed with procedure not the problem. I never did get to the bottom of it all but I got most of my cash back thanks to Joshua at *********** who understood the farce that had unfolded. Ultimately, although there are mostly favourable reviews for this wonderful independent hotel there is also clearly a problem with some clients being locked out. I don’t know what the owner’s problem is but perhaps he could just get a KEYSAFE so that latecomers could let themselves in? Anyway won’t be booking Le Petit Vatel again, or be using *********** for that matter either.
