The room I was given was wrong at the beginning. After I changed it, the facilities were old and shabby, the bed had a sour smell and white hair. The breakfast was made in advance and there was nothing to eat. I didn't feel full.

From the moment we arrived for our meal in the Black Iron restaurant, to the moment we left, everything was just perfect. The staff were very attentive and lovely, especially Leisia (apologies if not the correct spelling). She looked after us so well, very professional, but with a warmth and friendliness about her. We all had the rump steak, which was cooked to perfection accompanied by a very drinkable bottle of Merlot. The restaurant is a beautiful room, as is the rest of the hotel. All the staff there are just lovely. It was a pleasure to be there and would thoroughly recommend this place and would have no hesitation in returning again.

I had my wedding at Winstanley House, and thank you so much to my wedding coordinator Beth! From start to finish, it was so smooth and easy. So helpful, friendly and accommodating. The wedding day was perfect! Couldn’t have done it without Beth

We hosted the DMU and Barclays Asian Founders Community Meet at Winstanley House last week, and couldn't have had a better experience. From start to finish Beth and the team were excellent to work with, planning every last detail to a T. They couldn't have done enough for us, the event was a resounding success, and we're looking forward to hosting networking events there in the future. The Canapes were delicious too!

Booked a table at the Black iron restaurant for wedding anniversary. On arrival there was an extremely strong smell of sewage. We were shown to our table and it looked like we were the only people in the restaurant. Sat down briefly and decided we couldn’t possibly eat whilst we could smell sewage we mentioned this to the member of staff who informed us they’d had a leak in the cellar. If they have a leak from a drain into the cellar how can they possibly serve food and drinks??? On leaving was told next time we visit we could have a bottle of wine. But there won’t be a next time. They should have called to cancel my booking then at least I would have had time to book somewhere else!!

Breakfast only Went in a few times now to meet with friends and have a breakfast Lovely food great service Sheree was excellent Food fantastic Good to meet people if you go 10:30 you miss the hotel diners and it’s quiet and super service Will be back again and maybe even try evening meal

Booked a last minute stay here and was pleasantly surprised We received a free upgrade to an executive room which was very comfy Checkin was smooth and all team we encountered were super friendly and helpful We requested a late check out which was sorted quickly and easily (£20) We ate in the black iron restaurant in the evening and found the food very tasty and again in the morning for breakfast which is well worth the £10 each. WI-FI was pretty good - I managed to work fine. There are 2 reasons I didn’t give 5/5 1. The bar doesn’t serve bar snacks in the day time - only choice of food is cakes or to sit down in the restaurant- I believe they do a terrace menu in the summer 2. The desk/dressing table in the room has no space to work at, which meant I had to sit on the bed to work - the chair was also too big and blocked that side of the bed We will recommend and return
