Property was lovely. Parking is a bit of a walk and parking fees are expensive. The resort fees were expensive for what you got. These two added expenses added $500 to the cost of our week.
IMO too much for resort fees!

Buyer beware. This hotel is under renovation around the pool and they do not inform you of this upon booking or with any other communications and you still pay full price. The pool restaurant and bar/pool are under construction which started at 7 am until 5 -6pm while we were there. We could hear the noise in our room and on the beach. Nowhere to relax and enjoy our vacation. The small beach was overtaken by an all day volleyball camp that lasted all day with loudspeakers and music. The beach is public so it can be very busy with locals playing volleyball. You also have cruise ships and helicopters. Oh I can't forget the bulldozers cleaning up the beach all day from the recent storms. This was the least relaxing vacation I've ever had. The staff are amazing and kind but there is no enforcement of pool chair hogs who save seats and never use them. So there were not enough chairs in the shade. As far as the rooms go. I think they are very nice but with hard floors I was awakened every morning at 4 am by foot stomping from above. I complained to the hotel about my stay and they gave me a 15% discount. Very disappointing. I will never stay here again. I need a vacation from my vacation.

I stayed here with my husband and our two kids (12 & 15). We had a pool / partial ocean view room on the top floor. It was awesome! Our room was newly renovated; it was clean, quiet, and fresh. The bathroom was well-appointed and was very clean. The room was roomy, with enough room for a small dining table and chair. The balcony had two chairs, a little table, and plenty of space. We only had one issue - The fitted sheets did not want to stay on the beds. That's it. It was one of the best hotel rooms we've stayed in on any of the Hawaiian islands! The view was perfect. It was a full ocean view even though it faced the pool. The staff were courtious and helpful, the grounds were kept very clean and well maintained. The beach was never packed. It was lovely! The coffee stand has great lattes and easy grab-and-go breakfast options. The restaurant by the pool had okay food. I will say that anytime we got the food to go, it was not nearly as good as when we ate at one of their tables. All in all, beautiful hotel! We will be back!

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Cancelled a reservation prior to their cancellation policy and was still charged a full night. It took weeks of multiple calls to even speak with someone that still could NOT rectify the situation. I have never experience such poor customer for an elite reward member. As a business professional that drives $10k a year to hotels, I will never stay at a Sonesta again especially on Kauai. Stay at the Marriott side of the hotel. They don’t charge for parking or the resort fee and actually care about your business and FUTURE BUSINESS. Avoid Sonesta Kauai at all costs. Update: After two weeks, they reached out to follow up and they said the same thing. Claimed policy with no customer service and no refund. Some companies just don’t understand customer service. Clueless on future ramifications to save a dime.

We were only on property for several hours awaiting a night time flight back to the mainland; but, found the experience awesome!
The room was lovely and quite spacious and immaculate.
The public spaces are wonderful and the pool is spectacular!
We had a quick bite at Kukui’s, and the sushi was delicious!

Very pleasant staff. The restaurants are good and several lower price options are close by. It is very quiet in the rooms and the beach is excellent.
