Great location but... On arrival we checked in quickly and were given our room key. On opening the door, it was clear that the room was still occupied! Belongings in a suitcase on the bed. We scurried out. This made me very concerned about how they secure their keys and their basic security checks. Front desk seemed very surprised and we had a drink in their bar while they found us another room. It would have been good to have had an apology/update - it took about 30mins for them to find us another room. Rooms: Good size, clean, comfy beds. Very incongruous decor! Eclectic mix of uber-modern and very traditional - clear plastic chair and Louis IV style chest of drawers and desk. Very little hanging space - we were able to hang up 2 jackets. No mini-bar/fridge, TV had no connection so we couldn't use it. I told Front Desk about the TV, and they said "they would try to look at it" - which didn't fill me with confidence - and I was right - TV was not fixed. Breakfast - I wish I hadn't pre-paid as there wasn't much left when we arrived shortly after 10am - breakfast is served until 1030. Coffee is from a machine. We didn't bother on subsequent days. There is quite a bit of refurbishment going on in the hotel - so the entrance is all under scaffold; the refurbed lobby looks great and gives me hope that the rest of the hotel will be decorated to a similar standard. We were on the 4th floor - and there was a lot of building noise from above on the Monday morning - thankfully it was quiet over the weekend - apart from the noise of what sounded like a herd of elephants running about. On Sunday afternoon we got caught in a sudden thunderstorm with incredibly heavy rain - so we dashed back into the Hotel hoping to get a refreshment from the Lobby bar. We were stunned to be told it was closed. It's a 4 star hotel and there was nowhere at all on a Sunday afternoon to get a drink!! The good things - it's a perfect location to explore the old town, and a hop and skip to the nearest metro point. Our room was pleasant, very clean, comfortable beds and pillows and lots of USB points :) White Company toiletries in the bathroom. Fluffy towels. We were advised to park a short walk away in Nouveau Siècle - EFFIA, which was very convenient and easy to book and pre-pay online.
