Le Consulat

Beautiful and spacious room with great location.

Friends and I stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment. What a beautiful and spacious place. Lots of character and charm. It had a huge sitting area and a little kitchen. Would definitely stay here again. It is also in a great location.

The best thing about Le Consulat is the staff. They were friendly, accommodating, helpful. Upon arriving, Pedro suggested a nearby restaurant; I asked whether they had vegetarian options (they did). He suggested another place that he thought might work; later, he sent a text suggesting another restaurant that he remembered had vegetarian food (it, too, was excellent). Other staff were similarly helpful with anything we asked, Shortly after our departure, I realized my sunglasses had fallen out of the pocket of my coat. I called the hotel, and they'd found the glasses. I asked if they could please ship them to my home in the US (offering to pay). Based upon a couple of experiences with lost items during years of travel, I did not necessarily expect to see them again--but, upon returning home ten days later, I found them, well packaged, in our mail. The breakfast was ample, varied, and delicious, with lots of healthy choices. The room, while not as pretty as those featured on the website, was spacious and comfortable, well lit by windows with Juliet balconies overlooking Praça Luis de Camões. The bed was very comfortable. With trams stopping right in front of the hotel and lots of restaurants nearby, the location couldn't have been better.

Very welcoming staff, friendly and pleasant. Easy check in. Beautiful room which was upgraded to city plaza view, complimentary bottle of white wine and mini bar. Comfy bed and shower. Some maintenance work going on in the hotel so a bit of noise from 10am. Would stay again for short stay. Didn’t try food. Bar wasn’t open but looks like a nice space. Transport good outside. Some hilly walks.

The location of Let Consulat was excellent. With a Team stop right at the steps of the hotel and loads of eateries. Everything is a short walk away including a laundromat. The actual inside of the hotel was beautiful, the decor and space was excelelnt. Our only issues was with the bathroom, there is no ventilation so the floors are full of mould. From the time we stepped foot into the room there was an overwhelming smell of sewerage. We had to close and fill the bath and sink with water and close the bathroom door, even then the smell was so so strong and made us quite nauseous. Pedro, the night staff who welcomed us was excellent. The gentleman that checked us out didn't help at all. We had our hands full with luggage and he was just chatting on his mobile with his friend. He didn't have the courtesy to open the heavy door for us. Just yelled "bye" as the door was closing behind us. Shame that the horrid smell and the last point of contact that we have with the hotel was this person.

We couldn't have stayed in a better hotel. Not only was the staff amazing, the room clean and comfortable but the location was superb! We were able to walk everywhere from this central location!

The staff here are so kind and always willing to help. The view of the square is incredible. We had a room on the 3rd floor, which I would recommend if you can get one. They are extremely quick to respond to emails. I loved the location! I would absolutely recommend.
