The Dixie Dean Hotel

Actually as far as service went, this hotel is 5*, but the interior is worn and old fashioned and needs a makeover, including new lighting. The whole hotel is very shadowy. Also, the internet reception was poor and only worked downstairs, if it was working at all. I was on the 3rd floor. On the plus side, the breakfast was delicious, such a choice and so tasty - there was everything you could possibly want, plus a huge variety of teas. The staff were efficient and helpful. Unfortunately, you have to cross over to the Shankly opposite for lunch and dinner, which is ok if it wasn't pouring with rain. My room was massive even though I was on my own (yes, there is a singles supplement!) and I had a staircase going up to the bed area. There was very little space for clothes except a huge wardrobe (you can't hang everything up). I stayed for 6 nights so I like to unpack. My favourite place was the front desk. The staff were great, notably Dominique and Mel. They chatted, gave advice, gave directions, helped out with problems and generally made me feel welcome and looked after. The other staff were just as good, but I didn't see them as much. I always felt they were glad to see me and wanted to make my stay special. As I said - staff 5*, rooms, etc 3*

We booked to stay for a friends suprise 30th birthday. We booked a room for 8 people with 4 double beds (there was only 4 of us). Upon arrival we checked in and went to our room only to find out there was 1 double bed and 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. We went to recpetion to query why we had been given a smaller room. We were then informed that our origianl booked room the shower was broken so we had been moved to alternative room to avoid being outsourced to a different hotel. We queried why this hadnt been mentioned at check in literally 5 minutes ago and asked if there would be any compensation for being put in a smaller room, it felt as though the staff were hoping we wouldnt notice (also wonder why we hadnt been prewarned before check in). We were then told 'you can have the room with a broken shower or the smaller room thats your options'. We were very unhappy about this and a different staff member sorted a room the size we had origanally booked which we were grateful for. The room was nicely decorated but deffo on the worn side, there was food on the bathroom floor and the door handle kept coming off from the inside of the bathroom. The room was large and the beds were comfy. The breakfast was nice but it took 20 minutes before we could get a staff member to order a hot drink. The location is good within easy walking distance to most things in liverpool.

It was a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In a great part of town and very convenient for any activities/ amenities. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel because of the central location and the good price I must admit it’s a little quirky It has a very ornate style Lots of gold and dark blue decor We had a drink in the bar as we were early Staff were very pleasant We went up to the room And were quite shocked to find 3 massive double beds and a room as long as a bowling alley Everything was clean and fresh And comfortable Lots of tea and coffee Nice towels And a big tv We had a huge jacuzzi bath But couldn’t get any hot water I mentioned this at reception They were very good and offered to send someone to check it out Breakfast was really good One the whole it was a very enjoyable stay

Old, smells and not clean

This was a lovely hotel, we normally stay in my partners favourite hotel in Liverpool (Shankly) however thought I would try somewhere different, to his dismay when he told me it was named after Everton’s famous footballer (epic fail on my part) however from arriving to leaving it was a wonderful experience. The staff helpful and the bar man late on that evening ensured we had all we needed and nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful and so spacious, clean and full of character. We had breakfast the next morning and once again it was great, plenty of choice and well organised. Overall it was a great couple of nights away and definitely worth the price.

WOW. The perfect hotel with the perfect location for a night out in Liverpool. Its only a short walk from the Cavern so just brilliant. The rooms, the showers, the beds - literally everything is just perfect. Staff were super helpful and the breakfast, all be it very busy, was lovely. You will not regret booking this, whatever your reason for visiting Liverpool.
