Went for a sound healing experience. It was very very loud from a building next door and that’s alls I could hear. The same tones throughout the sound healing experience. Have to say I regret paying £40 and did not feel relaxed/ enjoyed it. The gong was the same kind of tome and pitch the whole night, I only work with high tone pitches and was utterly dissatisfied with the variety of tones and sounds. Would not recommend or come again.

I absolutely loved the cacao ceremony with the crystal bowls and gong journey with Maria! As a healing practitioner myself, I really needed a magical space to rebalance and Maria and her team provided this for me so beautifully! I’ll be back for sure :)

I had a fantastic sound bath with Maria in the penthouse. It was such an incredible setting, and I felt so well looked after by the practitioners. After the session, I had the best night's sleep and felt a deep sense of relaxation. I highly recommend it.

Such an amazing venue..the room and set up is very zen. Maria Lodetoft is just magical. Her sessions are so empowering and affective. I always feel the benefits straight away and for days after. Slept so deeply and my body feels so much lighter. Am so grateful to Maria. She’s changed my life 🙏🙏🙏

Im not sure it’s quite my place but I can see the appeal to the younger generation. Extremely friendly and welcoming on the front desk and shown to my junior suite for just the one night . Huge bathroom with both shower and bath, nice products and towels. Well decorated room , lovely mooted colours . I found the bed too hard for my liking and the duvet was not the best quality - seemed flat and cheapish and I much prefer a fluffy duvet. This is 5 star after all but felt like a 4 star bed and bed linen. The room was facing the Main Street but no noise due to the good insulation and no noise from the disco downstairs. The bar and restaurant are something else unique, dark and stylish , you have to see to believe. Would I return? No due to the bed and duvet.

Over the weekend, the Mandrake transforms into a bar/club with accommodations situated above it. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by subpar service and a lack of attentiveness, exacerbated by concurrent events on both Friday and Saturday nights. Prospective guests should exercise caution and verify event schedules during their stay, as hotel guests do not receive preferential treatment over walk-in bar customers. It is advisable to secure a reservation for a table in the bar in advance. The staff's performance left much to be desired; they engaged in unnecessary disputes, such as contesting the absence of a bottle opener in our room instead of promptly providing a replacement. Furthermore, I encountered difficulties gaining entry to the bar on two occasions due to wearing an outdoor coat and hat in frigid -2°C weather. Our experience in the Terrace room was underwhelming, considering its petite size relative to the associated cost. Additionally, the absence of room service for food further detracted from the overall appeal of our stay. We will not be returning.

We stayed in one of the suites because we wanted more comfortable seating than a standard room provided. This suite was "interesting". It had a feature in the bathroom in which the user of our shower could hit a switch and, conversely, if the user of the shower in the adjoining suite hit a similar button, the glass wall between the two rooms would become transparent and allow both parties the ability to watch each other shower. I'm 60 years old and don't even want to watch myself shower-- however, for the younger in body and spirit, this could be quite fun. Overall, the hotel and its amenities were splendid. Staff was supurb, accommodating, and most gracious. Location was fantastic. The restaurant was wonderful.

I visited The Mandrake for lunch, in Yopo which was actually very nice. However my experience went downhill when I asked to use the accessible bathrooms. However I was shown into a lift back of house that came out into what seemed like a service corridor with members of staff around. I was shown what can only be frankly described as a back of house disabled toilet much like those you would get in train stations or public toilets. I was appalled! Cracked tiles, spare tables and equipment was what I was faced with. No hand towels or hand dryer and no amenities eg hand cream etc. Is this what a five star hotel really offers its disabled guests??? I am shocked and disappointed that this was my experience. Having visited many 5 star establishments I can only say that this was so far from acceptable that it was hard to believe. When I went back to my friends they could not believe what I told them, as they had been in the able bodied toilets and said they were amazing. As we were leaving we approached the reception desk to speak with a manager. I suggest you get him and other reception staff retrained on guest relations as his multitude of excuses and unacceptable answers just left us in disbelief. Apparently an event the day before was the reason the toilet was not in an acceptable state???? Should that have been a problem for your disabled guests?? No it shouldn't Were they not checked first thing in the morning?? Clearly not. The manager entirely missed the point in that having that facility back stage away from the other beautiful bathrooms was completely wrong and discriminatory to disabled guests. In the end after using the excuse of the previous days event several times he said there was nothing he could do about where the toilet was. Thus absolving himself and the hotel of any responsibility. This I have to say is unforgivable. A 5 star hotel should do better for ALL potential guests not just able bodied ones. I am lucky to be able to have the income to come and enjoy a 5 star experience, however today apart from the restaurant, I did not receive a 5 star experience. Do better for disabled guests , we deserve it to. NB - I wrote to the GM of the hotel but so far have not received a response
