President Hotel ★★★
"Right next to Russell Square tube station and just a few minutes' walk from the British Museum, the surrounding buildings are quite grand. The President Hotel itself wasn't as large as I expected, but the view from the window was nice. The room was a bit small, and for someone with poor eyesight, the mirror being a bit far away wasn't very convenient. The window couldn't be opened, making the room stuffy with only a fan for air circulation. I can only say the location is excellent, and the service attitude was good too."

Belvedere Hotel ★★
"Great little hotel for cheap. Love that there's someone at the front desk 24/7 so you feel safe. The area has a safe vibe all around although it does sit at the end of the row of hotels in the darker end of the street. But my wife and I felt pretty safe coming home around 1am every nigh. It sits along a row of hotels that all look the same from the outside so I'm sure they're similar inside. The rooms are small but it seems like a lot of London rooms are small so don't expect a lot of extra area. Double beds are decent. Fairly firm but the pillows are not the softest or most comfortable. We stayed for a week so I missed having a softer pillow. Shower is 30 inches x 30 inches. Tight fit!! Water is hot fast and no issues with pressure. No air conditioner or fan. Normally that's not an issue in London but we happened to hit a heat wave of around 90-94 degrees F. At night, the room was warmer than it was outside and took a bit to air out. Wish they had fans or wish I brought one for the week we stayed. Didn't realize it was going to be that hot in London. The breakfast there is an add-on and it's pretty good for about $10US. Nice staff. Quiet and pretty clean. Overall we were happy. It's real close to the Paddington Station which is convenient. Now that we've walked around London, I think any hotel in that area would be safe or even some of the surrounding areas. I wasn't sure before we got there but now that we spent a week around there, it's safe. Every city has it's crazies so it's not absent of that, but overall, it's safe. It was about what you can expect for the cheaper price with just enough amenities to keep us happy."
