The room was okay, although very noisy continual fan on the bathroom. Strongly recommend eating out as plenty of decent eateries nearby. The reason for the rating is due to myself and a work colleague entering the bar around 22:30 to find people sat in the bar area, but the bar lights were off. We asked persons sat at a table how long the bar had been closed, and they stated 'they turned out the lights as soon as the lift doors opened' that we walked from. We approached the bar and the night manager who walked onto the bar, and we asked if we could still get a drink, to which he told us we couldn't as it wasn't possible? We offered to pay by card, cash, and that it was okay to charge the drinks to our rooms. He continually talked over me and refused to listen. Again, repeated that it wasn't possible...even though they were still within legal serving time, he works there, was the night manager who makes the decisions, and was stood in the area where the drinks were... He then kept repeating that we should have been there sooner if we wanted a drink. We didn't have the option to be there sooner, and had no idea they would close early than the expected time of 23:00. After a busy day and a lot of travelling, one drink would have been nice, we were not asking to keep the bar open, or to even drink in the bar area where several others were still sat. He said there was nothing he could do, but there was. For some unknown reason he took it personally that guests might want a drink in the hotel bar, less than a minute after choosing to close early. He evidentially wanted to be awkward for being awkward sake. It was very silly, but someone needs to remind him as a manager that the little things count, and that he works in customer service...and service to customers is what the customer remembers. Or in this instance, the lack thereof. If you do stay and want a drink, I'd recommend going next door to a bar called Bar East. We went the night after and they were very accommodating and friendly.
