I emailed this to the hotel but they didn’t respond. 1. Your website falsely states “A complimentary self-service continental breakfast is offered to all our guests.” This was one of the reasons we booked, so we could have something to eat before travelling home the following morning. Had we known this in advance we would have stayed elsewhere. I suggest this statement is removed from the website immediately because it’s a blatant misrepresentation. 2. I requested “not too many stairs please” because my wife suffers from bad arthritis in her knees but we had to climb up to the second floor to reach our room. It would have been a courtesy to warn us of this in advance and offer us a room nearer the ground floor or allow us the choice of finding a better option. 3. The room has seen better days. Its carpet was dirty and stained, particularly in front of the mini fridge. There were two badly filled holes under the electric sockets between the beds and the dressing table furniture was worn and frayed. The security cable preventing the window from opening too far was not attached to the frame, which is an obvious safety risk. The toilet brush handle was missing and there was no plug in the sink. There were no glasses in the room or anything to use to stir our drinks. The kettle had to be placed on the floor to boil because the cable wasn’t long enough to put it on the table, another safety factor. The TV didn’t work, only radio stations were available and the quality of the signal was very poor. Neither of the two suggested wifi options worked until about an hour before we checked out. My bed was lumpy and uncomfortable and, judging from the noises from the springs in the mattress, extremely old. There was no bedside table between the beds so things like our watches, bottles of water, mobile phones etc had to be placed on the floor. The hot water was only intermittent so we couldn’t have a shower. The room was too hot and we couldn’t find a way of turning it down so we had to leave the window open all night and in a room facing the busy road that meant we didn’t sleep well due to the traffic noise. However, on the positive side, the sheets and towels were clean. I would have made these points to the staff as we checked out but the reception desk was unmanned and the office door was locked so I had to leave our room pass card on the shelf near the open front door.
