I was a last minute walk-in at The Laslett. I absolutely loved it. I’d come off a long-haul flight, jet lagged, tired, cold and feeling under par. I had planned to stay at a friend’s home who had to cancel last minute,. So I walked into The Laslett, hoping they had a room available. It’s a popular hotel but fortunately had one room left….. in the basement. I would request the basement again by choice! If you want peace and quiet, over a view, look no further. The room was a place to cocoon, rest, recharge and sleep, in snug-luxury. With best sheets, ultra comfy mattress, plush duvet, warmth, cleanliness, high-end-healthy & alternative bar snacks, quality towels, sublime shower products and a feeling of complete privacy. The vibe in the common parts of the hotel is light, friendly, aesthetic (museum level contemporary British artwork hanging on walls), modern yet homey. Still feeling under-par on the first day, I cancelled meetings in town & decided to hold court in the small but uplifting dining room and high-ceilinged library. Best coffee, fresh juices and FABULOUS fresh food (google the menu). My guests loved it - we stayed chatting from breakfast to lunch. The hotel is on a quiet tree-lined street, in the heart of Notting Hill, with immediate access to taxis, tube and walk to all-you-need shops & restaurants. Staff went out of their way to help me get to places. They recommended a unique oxygenated in-house visiting therapist healing session, which I believe, also helped fend off an on-coming cold and certainly got rid of my jet-lag. All this made my stay great enough to want to return. I did! I stayed on an upper floor, with high ceilings, light and space. It was beautiful…. the downside was it quite hard to leave for appointments! The upper floors are a completely different vibe & a bit pricier because of space & natural light. Yet, if all you want to do is to shut yourself away from the world & cocoon, to then get out and about, I would also not rule out the smaller rooms in the basement.
