Absolutely awful! Paid for the room and saw images of it on booking when we got there. We had a completely different room and it was absolutely disgusting! I honestly have never not recommended a place before but this was just not worth any money at all and it was very dirty. I came with my husband so we ****** it up and stayed there. However, if I had come with my three children I would have left and gone and stayed somewhere else! Please be wary of this when booking as I would hate someone to have planned a lovely weekend or trip to find them staying in a room like we did!

Just when you thought you couldn’t get any worse than the Thanet Annexe, up pops the Thanet! Yes room was better…Ish, yes there was a kettle and yes there was a plug for the sink, but we didn’t expect, or pay for the fleas! Both my colleague and myself found ourselves covered in bites by the end of the week!

I was pleased to get a room that was pretty central in London and with a late night check in, but from here things went rapidly downhill. The room (20) was in the basement, and the smell of rotting sewage on arrival was appalling. Initially I couldn’t even find the light switch to my room as it wasn’t by the door, and the space was tiny, hot and airless. The confirmation email describes my room thus: “Single room with shared bathroom - featuring free toiletries, this single room includes a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. The single room has carpeted floors and features a tea and coffee maker, a wardrobe and garden views.” The “free toiletries” were a single, almost unopenable sachet of shower gel and the one and only towel was tiny. There was no obvious sign of a hairdryer, and the floor was wood-effect plastic. There was a kettle present but it was too big to fit under the tap in the loo. There was no wardrobe, but rather a hanging rail under the descending stairs which detracted from the space in the room. The “garden views” were into a tiny courtyard with rubbish blowing around in it. The loo was dirty and, as I said earlier, smelt of rotting sewage. The shower, in a separate room, had a door missing, meaning that water escaped whilst the shower was being used. There was no bedside light, so if you had to get up in the night, you had to fumble across the room in pitch darkness. The TV had about 5 semi-working channels, but even these were frequently pixelated and the sound became jumbled and impossible to follow. The corridor outside also had vermin traps. The bedclothes themselves were clean, but there was a hair inside my towel when I first opened it up. As I left, I noticed that they had some proud certificates of past successes on display, but these dated back to 2016 and 2013. I think it has been a long time since these good reviews were relevant. Sadly, I think this was the worst hotel in which I have ever stayed. PLEASE AVOID…

Selbst in Bangladesch herrschen sauberere Zustände.

We came to this hotel and found it to be a huge disappointment. The entire building is ancient and has NO air conditioning. The doors are rotting. The washroom is tiny. There is no fridge or kettle. The TV does not come with a remote. The furniture is old, dusty and broken. The carpet is dirty and old. The walls look like they are covered with piss. The light fixtures are completely ancient and half of the lights don’t work. The curtains are old and black spotted. The window is old and we have to wrestle with it before it closes. The washroom leaks and is so tiny that it is as big as our fridge. The shower is tiny and the water gets everywhere. The shower curtain is rotting and broken. The walls of the washroom are unnecessarily yellow. They provide no kettle to boil water. The beds are creaky and have springs sticking out. The bed back board looks like it is about to fall. The bedsheets are blood stained and have other people’s hair on it. I DO NOT recommend. This hotel was such a ripoff and it is so bad that me and my family would never leave a good review even if we were paid a huge amount. The reviews on *********** are all paid reviews and mislead you.The only reason why I am giving this hotel one star is because the location was really good. The hotel itself is horrible and I would definitely NOT recommend.

The place was disgusting! Nothing like it apparently has been a few years ago. For starters there was no one at the front desk for a long time when we arrived. Felt bad about people's belongings which were just left there without anyone guarding them. The flowers in front of the hotel were all dead. The hall was dusty but nothing compared to the room we got! The room was located on the ground floor. We could hear absolutely everything from the street and from the other rooms and the hallway. Dirt and stains were everywhere. Even worse was the shared bathroom and toilet in the basement. I could not make myself go there. It was DIRTY. The toilet seat and some of the shelves were broken. The room had also a weird door which was locked but had a window in it. The window was blurred but there was also a keyhole so big you could easily see through it to the other side. Another weird thing is that one time we went out, someone went to our room and put a star shaped sticker on our inner door (next to another sticker that was already there when we arrived). For what? Any kind of cleaning never happened so it couldn't have been the cleaner. The hotel's website promises a breakfast but that was not the case. It was not possible to even buy one there (although after I saw the place I would have not eaten anything that was served in such filthy premises). We were disgusted and scared to stay there and after two nights (every second there was too much) we had to check out and find another hotel even though we had already paid this one and could not get the money back. NEVER BOOK THIS HOTEL. The location does not compensate for the condition of this horrible place.

Room very hot, no air conditioning. No en suite. We were on the ground floor; the solitary toilet and shower were in the basement. Room clean but toilet seat broken. Curtains very thin so room light at sunrise.

Never have I had the misfortune to stay somewhere quite so disgusting! It should most certainly NOT be classified as a hotel - it is more like a run-down youth hostel. Everywhere, including reception areas, corridors, and shared bathroons (yes, shared!!) were filthy - including blood spatters in the shower cubicle and an unflushed toilet! Our twin room took basic to a whole other level - the beds were literally camp beds (they were squeaky and very uncomfortable)! The sink wasn't fully attached to the wall, the taps 'swivelled' when turned on, and the curtain across the window was a grimy shower curtain held up by a broomstick handle. The carpet was threadbare, ripped, and so dirty that we kept our shoes on . The stairwell and corridors were dimly/barely lit and were disgustingly dirty. I am surprised that *********** has even got this place listed - I will NEVER trust or book through them again.

That was the absolute worst Hotel I’ve had in my life and I‘ve been in a few cheap hotels in different countries already 😅 So first of all, we booked it via *********** what usually always works out. We only booked it because it was supposed to be with breakfast included in the price (which was over the top anyways) and when we got there they told us it was a mistake and there’s nothing included. The service was ignorant and didn’t care to help or give us a discount or any other small basic breakfast to get to an agreement. We didn’t really have any other hotel choices and it was pre paid so we were stuck with the room. Lastly. The room. God help everyone else that needs to sleep there. The walls are super thin so you hear every single word spoken from the neighbors, the doors didn’t slowly close but banged into the door frame so that was horror at night. The room itself was diagonally so that you basically walked upwards to the other side. The shower was a tiny dirty smelly box which was probably smoked in and never cleaned afterwards. We did get a different room after asking because the second option at least had half a straight floor. The owners/ guys from the reception (?) didn’t really give two sh*** about anything so when my phone died and we forgot the UK plug in charger, I went to ask if they had one I could borrow (other hotels usually have us a box to choose from when we asked). One started to look for one (and had one in his hand for a second) but the other mumbled in a different language so that he put it back and told me "they don’t have any“. I have no idea how they got good reviews so they’re fake 100% 🤦🏻‍♀️ So basically, please just don’t go there and save ur money :)
