I’ve stayed at the LSE dozens of times, mainly Passfield Hall, occasionally Roseberry Hall but this is the first time I’ve stayed at Carr Saunders Hall. It’s satisfactory and cheap (£42 with breakfast) but it’s definitely the worst out of the three. Apart from its price, the location is its other asset - located between Goodge Street (6 minute walk) and Warren Street (5 minutes) tubes. It’s in a quiet area but it’s a little tired and dated. I was a little concerned with the negative reviews (dirty/lack of toilets and noisy corridors) but there wasn’t a problem here. There were a few negative points: no hangers in the room, water pressure extremely poor, a pillow as flat as a naan bread and only one working lift. Breakfast was very disorganised. There was only one juice and coffee station as well as just a solitary toaster! The cold selection was satisfactory but the cooked breakfast was cold and tasteless. They could learn a little by visiting Roseberry Hall where the food was better and the organisation far superior. The hall lacks a nice garden area like Passfield’s and it’s rather soulless. I also needed to change a night due to flight amendments but they were unhelpful even though they often sell out months in advance. A good price but I’ll stick with Passfield or Roseberry in future!
