Americana Hotel

Really nice hotel, great location, lovely breakfast. Showers a bit hit and miss, rooms not very warm.

I paid for a double room before arrival. When I arrived I was given the key to room 205, I went up to the room only to find someone else was already in this room! I was shocked by this, and even more shocked when I went down to reception, the man behind the desk laughed and actually asked me ‘so do you want to change rooms?’ I couldn’t believe I was being asked that as if I would want to share the room with a total stranger!? It made me feel very unsafe in the hotel if anyone might just walk in to your room at any time. I was then given a different room on the top floor. (Which the lift did not go up to) I only found out it was a tiny single room when I got up there. This was not explained to me, nor was there any apology about this. Later I went back to reception and asked if I could be refunded for the difference in price between what I paid for the double room and what I actually got which was the single room. I was told no, again I was very shocked by the abruptness and lack of customer care by the staff. It is not acceptable that I haven’t received what I paid for, and it’s also not acceptable that peoples privacy and safety are being compromised by someone being given a key to an occupied room. After I returned home I was offered a £50 refund but this has still NOT happened!!

London hotels are expensive but this was good value, great location 5 minutes walk from Baker street it's great for sightseeing. Breakfast was decent, I liked the way they had boiled eggs, fruit and deli meats which is what I tend to eat, no hot buffet or fry ups. They do have toast, croissants, cereal, a coffee machine and non dairy milk options like oat and coconut. Room was basic, they have large soap and shampoo pumps on the wall. Nice and quiet, comfortable bed, very friendly staff. They also hold your luggage if you arrive early or on check out. Room service was ok, there are tons of options from kimchi and curry to burgers and pizza, like a hotel deliveroo of some sort. But what I ordered was somewhat different to the photos/description, like boiled vegetables coming fried etc.. But it is a handy service and cheaper than deliveroo/uber eats. Cons: The breakfast finishes pretty early at 09:30. There is a lift but it is very old and narrow, so I don't think any large luggage would fit. Rooms are extremely small, there was no place to open by suitcase which was only a small carry on, so I had to put it on the bed and then close it up everytime as there was no space on the ground to open up even a small carry on. The room chargers are at the desk rather than the bedside which was a bit annoying. Overall basic hotel, small and suitable for no more than a city break, but great location, price and friendly staff

Received a warm and friendly welcome. Room on the second floor and it was adequate for our two night stay. Beds comfortable. Continental breakfast which was plentiful. Plenty of eating places nearby. Would stay here again if in that part of London.
