It was easy to find this place. Check in/out were unmanned. We got two rooms. Towel in one of the rooms had stains on them, and nose booger on the bed frame. Additionally, there was no hot water in that room despite running it for 15min. The other room had lots of flies flying around and the bathroom was ridiculously small. It was impossible to sleep at all because of the noise (from cars and people) from the street below. We really should have checked the reviews before booking. Luckily it was only for a night’s stay. People - don’t make the same mistakes as us!

I live in room 5! In the case of falling snow, there is no hot water for showering, and the windows are not designed to be closed. The road is downstairs, and the vehicles are very noisy and can't sleep! It was a bad experience! The room is very small! The toilet smells! Will not be renting this hotel again! Check in and Check out no staff at all! From check-in to departure, I didn't touch the staff! This cannot be called a hotel!

We arrived at the hotel and were unable to get in as it seems to have nothing to do with the adjoining pub. Someone kindly let us in as they were leaving. There was no-one on the scruffy and empty reception desk, no sign of any staff at all and there was no instruction as to how we would find a room. We eventually called the phone number on our booking, getting through eventually and were sent some codes to allow us into our room. Communal areas and stairs were not decorated with threadbare carpet. Our allocated room didn't lock so after another phone call the manager persuaded one of his friends to come and show us to a different room as there seemed to be no actual staff in the building. Outside our new room was a door that led onto the roof - this was hanging off its hinges and did not appear to close. Our tiny room had paper thin walls, had no table, chair or kettle, just a bed and a very battered looking bedside cabinet. We did, though, have a small fridge and a microwave on the floor!! The curtains were also partly hanging off the rail. Fortunately we only stayed for one night so didn't make use of the very scruffy looking shower or the TV, although I can assure you that the TV in the room next door worked very well We paid just over £100 for this room for the night and so obviously didn't expect luxury, we chose because of it's convenient location to a venue we were attending for a gig, however, I can honestly say that this is the worst hotel I have ever been to. The poor state of the building would seem to indicate an owner with little interest in the hotel or the guests I would like to also point out that the good reviews on this site are for the Pub and restaurant next door not this hotel and so create a misleading picture

New Market Ale House Misleading advertising and fake website. The brewery is not the same management as the "hotel", so much so that when we couldn't enter the hotel part the waitress immediately made it clear. The room assigned to us -n.10- (there were 3 adults) did not correspond to any of the advertised photos, not even with a bit of imagination or tolerance. It barely contained the two beds (1 queen size and the other single) positioned under the window which closed badly and let the air pass, and covered the radiator which was not working anyway (cold days at the end of April with rain and wind). No furniture, nothing to put clothes on, no shelf, nothing at all (in reality there is one, but on the bed so I either hang my jacket or sleep), just a chair and a bedside table without a lamp. The contents of the luggage therefore had to be left in the limited space on the ground. Very small bathroom and mini sink, airplane type; Only one towel, not even a large one, per head provided. The access staircase and the entrance are better not seen. We still had to spend one of the 4 nights paid in advance there (we didn't have time to find an alternative) but the following morning we left as quickly as possible. Stay away!

Just arrived to London after a long 4 hour drive to a text with a half hearted apology saying they had to cancel my booking 2 hours before check in because the room had been trashed by the guests before. This was the middle of December so we were really panicking that we weren't going to find anywhere else to stay at such short notice. Text them back to ask if they could recommend somewhere else to stay and they said they would come back to me...4 hours later they still hadn't replied but luckily we had found somewhere else. I text to ask for my deposit back and surprise surprise they haven't bothered replying and I am still waiting for my deposit! Avoid at all costs!

I don't mind cheap and cheerful as long as its safe and clean. This was awful. Strong smell of ***** on the second floor. Our room was filthy. Poo stains on toilet roll holder. Shower filthy with shower cable hanging off. The carpet was that old and worn you wouldn't walk on it without showers. After leaving in tears we found a hotel elsewhere for the same price that was clean and comfortable. Airbnb refunded us 100% after sending the photos of the room. You wouldn't leave an animal in a room like that.

Really horrendous experience at this place. My standards are not high... i'm happy to rough it in most places... but had to draw the line here. Check in was less than smooth... it's a mobile number written on a piece of paper taped to the front door. I called and called and called.. eventually someone rang back to tell me a key code to a room. By this stage I'd missed a meeting I was due to be at. Upon entering the room - it looked as though someone had just left. Wet towels on the floor... bed sheets filthy and unmade... someone hadn't flushed the toilet... mice droppings on the floor... it was grim... Since no one is there to talk to - I rang the number again.. texted.. eventually I was told a cleaner would come by to clean the room. So I waited for another 30 mins until someone popped their head in to tell me someone would clean the room in a little while. A further 30 minutes passed and I left - booked a room somewhere else. I text the mobile number taped to the front door to let them know the room was unsuitable and that I would be requesting a refund in full and was sent back a blunt message to leave the key and go. Avoid this place.

I booked this hotel for 5 nights from 21/9 to 26/9. When I arrived after a long flight I was told (by a rather rude guy named Tony) that there had been a problem with their booking system and that there was no availability. I didn’t get even a hint of apology or accountability. He kept blaming *********** even though I tried to explain to him it had been booked via Ista. He just wouldn’t listen. I was forced to try and find another place that at a last minute cost me an arm and a leg. Based on this experience I wouldn’t recommend them.
