Booked a 2 night stay here for my 30th birthday. Overall had an okay stay but wouldn’t return for a few reasons. The staff were a bit hit & miss, we either came across people who were happy to help & really friendly, or just clearly didn’t want to be there & couldn’t be bothered. The staff in the main restaurant for example - there were multiple younger staff members during breakfast who just looked miserable, didn’t check back on us, dumped our food and scurried off, it almost felt like we were an inconvenience when asking for anything. That said, the evening staff were all amazing, super friendly & hardworking. So it maybe is down to management not keeping a closer eye on the team. As someone working in hospitality it was just frustrating seeing so many lack the people skills needed for this kind of job (even just a smile or simple check back). My partner was also frustrated that he’d emailed about a birthday candle for my dessert at dinner, he’d chased staff members during our meal, & it still just came out without any candles or messages. Given the price for the meal/stay, you’d think they’d have had a bit more attention to detail. The main problem we had was, we’re a young couple without kids. We booked this hotel as it’s listed as a golf resort with a spa however, the entire time we just felt it was overrun with children. Had we have known that it is basically a family stay hotel, we wouldn’t have booked it as a relaxing weekend spa break for 2. Not to sound like The Grinch but, it really did ruin the atmosphere - from breakfast being chaotic, to the bar area basically being a playground, I was looking forward to a peaceful relaxing stay (as promoted online) and all I could hear were screaming kids wherever we turned. We were so fed up the first night we ended up ordering room service just for some peace and quiet. The fact it’s child friendly isn’t the problem, it just seems very misleading to be named a golf resort and spa & to be promoting itself as a great break for couples on social media, when if i’d blindly shown up here, i’d assume it was a family focused hotel only. The spa was lovely, had a great massage and peaceful time over there was there were no kids. But we found it odd that given it’s a resort, and the grounds are so big, there was only one small bar in the main building. Which given the amount of kids, just felt really cramped. So it could definitely do with having 2 or 3 bars or lounge areas. For the price of the stay, aside from the golf courses & the spa being nice, I wouldn’t say it’s 100% worth the money in terms of service, facilities & ambience. I’ve paid less for other hotels that i’d return to despite lacking the facilities that Foxhills has, due to it just being a better overall stay & atmosphere. Overall had an okay stay, the food for dinner was lovely, certain waiters were great, some of the reception were lovely, but we wouldn’t return due to lack of consistency with staff, the amount of children, & the g
