THE KARL LAGERFELD

The Hotel Karl Lagerfeld Macau is a real feast for the senses - and by "feast" I mean an overwhelming sensory assault that leaves you feeling a bit queasy. The Bad: The decor can only be described as "1950s Shanghai ******* chic", with bold red and gold accents that assault your eyeballs from every direction. It's like someone bedazzled a Chinese opium den. The room I stayed in advertised a "city view", which turned out to be a view of the local landfill. The second I opened the door of my hotel room, I was hit with a wall of odor that can only be described as a cross between a forgotten gym locker and a roadkill stew. It was like walking into the den of a herd of sweaty, chain-smoking grizzly bears. The Good: The saving grace of this hotel is the Mesa bar a true gem. From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. The bartender (Rock) is a mixology master, crafting expertly balanced cocktails with care and precision. But what really sets this place apart is the staff's commitment to providing an exceptional experience for every patron. They're incredibly attentive, striking up engaging conversations and making sure you're comfortable. With a wide selection of both classic and creative libations, Mesa is the perfect spot for an evening of delicious drinks and wonderful company. I can't recommend it highly enough. Try the BOA Viagem, the perfect summer drink. Overall, the Karl Lagerfeld hotel in Macau is an experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Unless, of course, that enemy is someone I *really* dislike, in which case I'd gleefully book them a stay and sit back to enjoy the show. Talk about a unique "hotel from hell" experience! But do visit bar Mesa (3F).
