Arrived at 7.15pm after an 8 hour journey. The kitchen was already closed so i was told to go to the chippy! Stairs to accommodation smelled of damp and the room smelled strongly of air freshener. Bed was clean but quilt so thin i had to get up in the night to get coats from my car to get warm. Full breakfast is presented without asking customers what they want. I was told the breakfast is in with the price?! Landlord cheery enough but needs to work on customer service skills. Rooms need a rethink. A palace to artex which traps damp. Would i go again ... no.

We chose the Church House because the OUT OF DATE web site offered Gluten free food on the menu and did B&B. We arrived to find a change of ownership but the same manager who informed us that the new owners had stopped serving food. Our room left a lot to be desired. The toilet, hand basin and bedding were clean but the rest of the out of date small room and even smaller bathroom left a lot to be desired. The shower was so mouldy we didn't use it and even the kettle had a layer of dust on the lid. The one saving grace was a good well cooked breakfast.

After a search of hotels in the area, I decided to go with the cheapest option. I'm sorry I didn't spend another £15 to go to the travel lodge down the road... I've seen much better bathrooms on campsites - the whole accomodation section was very run down and needed a big overhaul. I heard a lot of noise from the other rooms, although thankfully it didn't go on through the night so I was able to sleep. Staff were pleasant and breakfast was fine, although there didn't seem to be any options.

The room was fine and it was reasonably clean but the whole decor could do with updating. The shower had a fair amount of mould on the tiles so not the best but functional. Thankfully I was only staying for 2 nights. First night uneventful but second night had to complain about the noise from the pub after midnight and I was told it would go on to 1am so I asked to speak to the manager and the noise was gone within 10 minutes. Sadly there aren't many options for staying in Bollington but I personally wouldn't stay here again.

We arrived for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. The barman was very friendly and the food was tasty. It was standard pub fare with lots of choice. I had pie, chips and veg. My partner had fish & chips which came with an impressive homemade tartare sauce. A roaring fire and friendly locals added to the a**osphere. We'll happily stop by again.

Stayed here for two nights with friends while visiting Bollington. The pub had a wonderful relaxed feel and Dave the landlord was a real gentleman, and excellent host. My party were made to feel incredibly welcome, and we found ourselves part of the fold of regulars in no time. Breakfast was served at a time to suit us and was delicious. A well-stocked bar with well-kept ales. Well-positioned for exploring the local area and very much in the heart of Bollington’s nightlife Dave and his team delivered a great experience and a memorable stay.

We arrived for a one night stay. Dirty towels from previous occupants still in the room. Sink was still coated in previous occupants soap. Shower not cleaned and had mould around it. Window sills had debris and twigs in them. Goodness knows if it was clean bedding quite a few hairs in the bed. We booked this trying to give local business help after COVID never again. The breakfast was not too bad.

If you want a fancy gastro pub, with fancy gastro prices, don’t come here. If you want a proper locals pub with friendly service, and great plain food with generous portions give Church House inn a visit. We called today for lunch and were very impressed. My wide had fish and chips and I had steak and Stilton pie, both served with delicious home made chips, and in my case fresh vegetables, how they managed to get some much steak in the large pie I don’t know. The desert menu had some great items including syrup sponge, jam roly pudding and apple crumble, but we were just too full to try them. We were served by the cheerful and lovely Holly, and all in all really enjoyed our visit, with a very reasonable bill.

A previous review mentioned being greeted by the dog, Frank. Nothing against it, it's a lovely dog, but the same experience nearly gave my 89 year old mother, who is terrified of dogs, heart failure. I know every second person in Bollington has at least one, but not everyone likes them and many, myself included, believe that an area where food is being served is not the place for them. I get that people like to take them when they go to eat out and they usually keep them tucked quietly by their chairs, but a large dog roaming around from table to table, staring at you while you eat and sprawling across walking areas is very off-putting and a possible health and safety hazard, as is the niagra falls peeing against the pretty flower pots in close proximity to the seating in the beer garden - smells nasty in warm weather! I know Chris is a mammoth act to follow and it IS a very friendly pub with great staff and good food, but sorry, eating there is probably not for us any more.
