A previous review mentioned being greeted by the dog, Frank. Nothing against it, it's a lovely dog, but the same experience nearly gave my 89 year old mother, who is terrified of dogs, heart failure. I know every second person in Bollington has at least one, but not everyone likes them and many, myself included, believe that an area where food is being served is not the place for them. I get that people like to take them when they go to eat out and they usually keep them tucked quietly by their chairs, but a large dog roaming around from table to table, staring at you while you eat and sprawling across walking areas is very off-putting and a possible health and safety hazard, as is the niagra falls peeing against the pretty flower pots in close proximity to the seating in the beer garden - smells nasty in warm weather! I know Chris is a mammoth act to follow and it IS a very friendly pub with great staff and good food, but sorry, eating there is probably not for us any more.
