I discovered this hidden gem by accident. I had almost given up on finding a hotel that was close enough to the airport as well as to local shopping and had ac. There are only two things I have a problem with in regards to this place. Please note there is not an elevator or lift as the UK states. The other draw back is there is no way to shield the light in the bathroom area. It is hard to describe. There is a beautiful glass door to the right and left in the bath area with a sink in the middle of the space. If one has to get up to use the facilities the light being turned on glares in the face of the other one in bed. One other note is to be careful when closing the glass door. When I closed the door, my finger got closed in the door and it actually cut my finger below the cuticle. After 3 days, my finger is blue and sore.
While the hotel is directly under the local airport's flight pattern, we never heard planes unless we were outside.
The grounds are astounding as is the building itself. Make sure to check out the artwork throughout the place. If you like hidden staircases, watch out.
The place appears to be kid friendly. There is a fabulous playground adjacent to the property. Make sure to purchase duck food for the locals.
The bar, while somewhat limited in its offerings, was suitable for us. As to cost, the prices were comparable if not better than other bars/pubs we have visited..
We did not dine in the restaurant, but from what I say, the food looked amazing. The young man working reception was so very nice to help with our luggage as well as anything else we may have needed. The young ladies working in the bar were also very nice. In fact, they were so embarrassed by my asking to take their photo. They said no one had ever asked to take their photo.

We had my sons wedding reception here and it was so relaxed and well organised. We had a wonderful drinks reception and canapés delivered by friendly, professional staff and the Chatsworth room was decorated beautifully. The sit down meal was fantastic and service was impeccable. When they were setting up the room after the meal we sat in the lounge where a pianist added to the ambiance. Again the evening buffet was magnificent and we had our own bar .and the DJ played everyone’s requests. The bride and groom were given a huge suite for 2 nights and the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure everything was perfect- which it was.

Hotel is conveniently located near Manchester airport, but if you are checking in late, traveling with a couple of suitcases, you may want to read on. We called the hotel from Brussels airport to get a basic sense of where to expect the hotel shuttle for pick up; we were told by the reception staff / operator, that one has to make the reservation online and the last pickup was at 10:00. We asked if she could make the reservation since I was already on the phone with her, but she explained it was an outsourced party and we had to do it. Our flight had a scheduled arrival at 09:30, so decided to make the shuttle booking. It was not easy to find a link on their website. Called them again to ask them where I could make the online reservation and was told one just has to cut across the street and the hotel was right there. Which we did. Luckily we had a small carryon with wheels each and it was not raining at that time, although the roads were wet from a recent rain shower. Hotel was functional. Clean/nice. IF you are arriving late, with the elderly or with a couple of large suitcases, please keep this in mind. Also call to understand the hours of operation for the shuttle service. It’s England, so having an umbrella handy is always useful. (As of mid March 2023).

I just HAD to write a review on my stay here. Well... this was my 3rd hotel in 4 nights of travelling. It was also the cheapest one, and the only one I was kind of dreading! Oh how wrong could I have been! From the moment I entered, the receptionist was so friendly and helpful. Welcoming, kind and professional. I asked if there was any fridge I could use to store some food items I was travelling with and they kindly put these in the staff area for me overnight. Could not do enough to help. The hotel feels more like a modern new hostel than a hotel. The vibe in the communal area felt very much like a classy hostel. It was warm, friendly and welcoming. Free unlimited tea and coffee down there was great. Breakfast was only continental, which I hadn't realised. Lovely pastries, but a shame no hot food was served. Rooms are very small, as I had expected, but functional, Plenty of charging sockets, good hot shower with amenities. As I arrived into the station at terminal 1, and was flying from terminal 1 the next day it is quite a walk with heavy bags. There is no shuttle bus or alternative way to get to terminal 1 from here, only the skylink. This would have been fine, but the moving escalators on the skylink were switched off. When I asked the hotel staff about this, they said they have not been working for months. I don't know why this is, but it would have made moving to/from the hotel a lot easier so it was a shame. Overall a very good and unexpected stay. For the price, I would stay again. Thanks to all the staff for such a pleasant welcome.

GGuest UserIt is a very historic castle. The room at the back should be built later. The environment in front of the hotel is very good. There is a large grassland, there are sheep, and there is a small garden. You can see the stars at night. The faucet of the wash basin is separated from cold and hot, or it is cold or hot, the water in the bath room is too small, the small bed will be rattled when it turns around, there is an activity that night or something, there is a very noisy sound of guests at 1 am. Surprisingly, I gave a bottle of red wine to the room.
In addition, the mountain trail that follows the navigation is still quite thrilling.
