The White Lion Hotel

Visited here several times. Location is good in the town center and you always recieve a warm welcome. Service is good and very fast. Good choice on the menu with veggie options. I love the Glamorgan sausages as I' m fkexitarian bn generally prefer veggie options but get fed up of generally having veggie lasagna or pizza. Hubby had the steak pie which was bursting with chunks of meat as opposed to the normal shredded meat. He said it was flavoursome too. Love the chunky chips!! There is always a nice atmosphere here. Would highly recommend

Comfortable, quiet and clean room in an old pub c1700. Full of character. Superb menu and food. Lively bar with Sky Sports. Plenty of nonsite, safe parking.

Good friendly and helpful staff however the food was a little disappointing, what id had if id had earlier it would have been lovely. A shame it was over cooked and hard to eat. It needed to be cooked fresh and then would have been awesome. Shame cause a lovely pub/stroke restaurant.

We always have a pitstop here on our way through to Aberdovey from Shropshire and visit regularly whilst here in Wales. The staff are very friendly, warm and welcoming. Breakfasts are amazing! The menu is vast and all portions are extremely generous. A simple sandwich is accompanied by a side of chips, salad, and coleslaw 😋. Great value for money. A must visit when in Machynlleth 👌. 5*

I stayed in room 1 it was fantastic. Everywhere clean. Shower was lovely. Family room very roomy. Toiletries supplied. Plenty of coffee tea and milk in room. Friendly staff. Always happy to help. Food was great to huge portions. Highly recommend. Great location. Bus serves to wales right outside door

Had a lovely meal at the white lion. The ambience in the area we sat was lovely and showed a character and charm. The staff, were very attentive and charming to us. A big shout out to Stacey who was lovely. The food was really nice, tasty and a great portion size. I had ordered originally the homemade lasagne with chips, unfortunately as I had ordered that as a takeaway for my younger brother, And my freind had ordered the same, I had to order a different meal. However I was thoroughly happy with my meal which was the mega burger, and chips. It was lovely, and tasted divine. I had chicken burgers instead of the beef. I would definitely recommend this lovely pub for a meal. No complaints.

hotel is tired in areas but looks like its getting a bit of an update, our room had a very sloping floor and one of the mattresses on the bed had a big dip in it. However for the price we paid and including breakfast which was really good and evening meals were very large portions and good value for money we were happy enough

I had read many reviews about this hotel before booking, all positive and calling the place “excellent”. After my stay I found myself wondering if I’d stayed in the same place! It was at best mediocre and certainly does not live up to its 3star rating. We had booked for two nights but as we had made two separate bookings the venue couldn’t accommodate us in the same room so we had to leave at 10.30 to return to check back in at 14.00. Both rooms had their own set of problems. First room was damp and smelled. The fire door would not shut without force and the window would not open. Second room was in better condition but the fire escape route was via the room, the fire door had an inch gap at the bottom so most certainly would not adhere to the regulatory 30mins required. The toilet seat was not fixed, the kettle was too large to fill and no bedside tables or lights. The hotel/bar was a dingy place that smelled and had clutter everywhere, the staff gave contradictory information on check in leaving us a little confused. I will not be rushing back
