I made the mistake of filling out paperwork and giving my credit card to the clerk at the front desk. Before bringing our luggage in, I asked to look at the room. Although the front office was clean in appearance, the hallway was dirty and had sunflower seed shells scattered all over, the carpet did not meet the door frame of the room. Inside was no better. It was very dated, disjointed and smelled old and musty. I told the clerk I had changed my mind, we would not be staying there. The room was not up to the standard I was accustomed too. She refused to cancel the transaction even though we had not brought our luggage to the room nor used anything in the room. I asked to speak to the manager and she said he wasn't there and wouldn't be in until the morning. She kept saying, "The room is clean, the room is clean. You won't find another room in town." When she staunchly refused to return the paperwork to me, I told her I would report it to my credit card company. I found clean accommodations directly across the street. After check-in, I checked my credit card activity and found the Ramada charge pending. In the morning I returned to the Ramada to speak to the manager. The clerk from the night before was still on duty. I explained what had happened and why I had refused to stay there. I told him I wanted the Ramada charge canceled. I had stayed across the street at another hotel. He said there was nothing he could do. He gave me a number to the corporate office and knowing I was about to begin a tour, he said he would call me within a couple of days to get this resolved. He never called. The corporate number did not allow me to talk to an actual person and there were no options that pertained to my complaint. I know, because I tried them all. Not only was this hotel substandard, but this was the worst customer service I have ever received.
