Hotel Europa

Really good location. Nice rooms and nice staff

My two friends and I were part of a tour group through G-Adventures. We had just landed in Madrid that day, quickly checked in to our room and were off to explore. One of my friends had left their passport in the room and needed to present it in order to purchase a SIM card for Europe. As he was on his was to the room, one of the maids had their hand on the door knob (which she had no business being in because 1) it was our first day and didn't need cleaning, and 2) there was a do not disturb sign on the door) My friend confronted her asking why she was going in to room if the sign was on the door, and she claimed she "didn't see it"... We didn't think too much of it, until the next day when we went to take out our money for the next day and realized that 350 Euros, (about 500 Canadian (converted)!!!!) was missing from our envelope of money. It is also a known fact that there is a master key that can unlock the safe.. When we approached the hotel and made a police report, they said an investigation would be done, and it has been one day shy of a month with no communication or attempt to fix the issue. Conveniently, our room was the only one out of camera view... This ruined our trip and added a huge amount of money to our already expensive trip. Do not stay in this hotel. Clearly their maids watch these rooms for when tourists leave for the day and steal what they can...

Room was bland to say the least. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. Location was very good.

When I travel, location is everything. Obviously also clean and safe, but then add a bit of luxury and a lot of authentic and helpful people, this is really a great place! You are 30 seconds around the corner to the plaza and Sol Metro entrance. There are shops, sights and amazing neighborhoods in all directions. Every night as we returned from sightseeing and exploring, we went to the restaurant for a snack and a glass of wine. The food is delicious— try the croquetas caseras. The team there is extra special. They welcome you like you just returned home. Our waiter Jhonny was especially wonderful— so nice, personal, and professional. We stayed only a few days but at this hotel, we felt the people were like family.

The location is good but no car access. We had to drag our luggageto walk several blooks on very busy streets. The building is old and room is uncomfortable.

The hotel features spacious and clean rooms, with extremely comfortable beds and pillows. The staff is excellent, welcoming upon arrival and giving tips on where to go and how to get there. The location is spectacular, in the heart of Puerta del Sol. The main courtyard is literally ten yards from the hotel entrance, making it easy to get to cafes, restaurants, shops, and most tourist locales. Despite being in such a vibrant area, the rooms are quiet and peaceful.
