I was offered Petit Palace Tres Cruces as an option by our travel agent when traveling for business meetings. #36 of 470 hotels in Madrid and 4.5 green whatever-they-are's on Tripadvisor, that can't be bad, I thought, right? Well, no. I was put up in room 410 - it's this one: https://dynamic-media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-o/16/64/e4/42/petit-palace-tres-cruces.jpg?w=1100&h=-1&s=1 Looks nice, right? Well, no. It has its ceiling slant (it's the roof) which means you can't walk upright in half of the bed area. There's a small work-desk there, at the low end. To get to it you have to either walk on your knees, severely bend over or just hit your head on the ceiling (that's gonna happen either way). There's no regular window, just this ceiling window onto the slanted tiles roof. When it rains (and it did), you can't even open it for some outside air since you'll just flood the room. And the room seems to have seen it's fair share of water - maintenance of the walls are less than perfect. There was not iron in the room or to be found elsewhere (this was a business trip and I did need one). There was no kettle in the room or option for a warm drink. Staff seemed nice enough and that's the only reason for not lowering the review all the way down to 1 green whatever-they-are's.
