Overall, our stay was unpleasant. From the time we checked in to the time we checked out. When we entered the hotel they essentially made us feel that we were unwelcomed. No smile, no hello, nothing! I have never experienced this level of hospitality in my lifetime. Room size We had booked a ”Deluxe Double Room with Balcony and Sea View” (booked almost 1.5 months before) and it was supposed to be one of the best rooms in this hotel (2nd best to be precise). The room was tiny and couldn't even accommodate our luggage. Bed size It was supposed to be a ”large double bed” but it was tiny that we couldn't sleep well. We had 5 years old - already mentioned while booking. They could have simply rejected our booking by saying that the bed would not accommodate a kid. Bathroom and accessories It was again very small. There was nothing. No hand towel, soap, toothbrush, or sleepers. There was a shower gel and a shampoo. And some tiny lizards in the bathroom which was scary for my kid to use the washroom. I must mention that one of the staff was helpful in getting rid of one of those lizards we encountered and I had to shoo the rest of them away by myself. Pricing on Booking.com We paid 336$ for two nights on booking dot com and expected better rooms and services but the actual room cost which I got to know at the hotel was only 80$/night which explains why the services were not great. Booking dot com definitely fleeced us. You can directly reach out to the hotel to book the room if you're interested. Also, we had planned to spend two days in the city to explore after spending a few days on a private island. Though one day was enough to explore the city! Overall, it is a 2-star hotel and not recommended for a family. Good for solo travellers for a short stay (not more than a night). I would not recommend this hotel to a couple! The only positives were the sea view from the room and the location.

The hotel is right next to the beach, gorgeous sea view from the room. The hotel staff Amy, was friendly and ever ready to give the best recommendation for a few hour walk in male, from shopping to where to shop for souvenirs and she also recommended us to take a short ferry to villemale which only cost less than $1 to and fro from Male jetty to the island. Great advice that just keep our time worth staying in Amber beach hotel.

We stayed here for the second time before catching our flight home after a dive trip. It is fine for one night, the room was clean and the air con worked great. This island is man made, so space is at a premium. We booked a twin in the hope that we might have a bit more bed space, but the floor space was not really big enough to have both our dive bags open at the same time. However the staff were absolutely delightful. The rooftop restaurant was really nice and the food and service was great. We had to leave at 5.15 and there was a lovely breakfast spread out with yogurt and juices and fruit beautifully presented. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

My family and I were taken care of by Kishore, who was an exceptional host. He helped us from the moment we arrived until the day we departed, always making sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The Hard Rock hotel is well equipped with everything one could desire on a family vacation. The swimming pool and beach have a great atmosphere frequently filled with music events and activities. The food is top notch and very diverse. Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy from a wide range of activities, such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (highly recommended), weight training center, Zumba classes and more. We will definitely return for a second round of paradise.

What an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived at the airport we were so welcome by so the staff. The resort itself is beautiful and kept really well. This is high quality resort with a very personalised touch. Shohel, our house keeper, made such a difference and was very courteous and thoughtful. We stayed for our anniversary and was met with such a beautiful display. The room was quite spacious as we stayed in an overwater villa and was quite private. The beautiful reefs are worth exploring. All the activities in the resort are so much fun and the staff make it much more enjoyable filling in any knowledge gaps and answering any questions we had. Would definitely recommend staying as we’ve decided we’d love to come back in the future.

My wife and I honeymooned at Velassaru for 6 nights in early May, arranged through a local travel agent in Australia. We went for the Indulgence package and a beachside villa with plunge pool and the entire experience was excellent. The transfers to and from the airport were pre-arranged and seamless, and we were on the island with no fuss. Once there we were greeted and refeshed, then led to our lovely room, overlooking a beautiful turquoise ocean with reef break. The ocean colours really are something else, and this is coming from an Australian. The wife insisted on the plunge pool which of course turned out to be a brilliant decision. For me, it was about the food and drink. We ate at all of the restaurants, and every one provided excellent meals and the Indulgence package covered all of the basics so I could grab most of what I wanted when I wanted. I did spring for the lobster and some nice whisky though, at civilised prices subsidised through the package. I was very happy here. For my wife, she loved the ocean, and spent hours snorkelling / exploring out on the reef, or relaxing in the plunge pool with some music and a drink. I'll let her write the next bit. The weather was overall mostly sunny during the day, while riding out any late afternoon storms in the pool with a cocktail, or late night tempests in the warm plunge pool (also with a cocktail), was a great experience. Also regarding the timing, the resort was pretty quiet and here is where things truly shine. Without the high season pressure, we received immediate and pleasant attention and service from the staff. For our own honeymoon experience, we must particularly thank Salam and Imran, both of whom were engaging and ensured everything was on point, from them we received exceptional service, and more importantly, conversation. A special mention, and which for us will mark special memories, is Chef Wasantha and his personal attention during our stay. He visited our table during lunch on our first day and offered us whatever we liked, so my wife offered a challenge of tandoori lamb cutlets. Half an hour later, two plates were consumed, and chef continued to entertain requests over the next few days for whatever was asked.
