Britannia Hotel City Centre Manchester

Nearly did not stay as they wanted photo ID mone of which I have me and my friend had gone from a long way abd when we were told but their reception that they require photo ID they said they could not let us stay without it. This infuriated me and my friend because NOTHING on your website stares thst yiu need photo ID luckily having rang yiur customer service line and speaking to them which did not help and this is not your customer service assistants fault my friend managed to use his photo ID to secure the booking. I was very frustrated by your non disclosure of photo ID and this could have led to us being stuck in Manchester. As a goodwill gesture you should compensate me and my friend for this frustration and or update your booking details to include this relevance of having Photo ID. If you do not offer me and my friend a goodwill gesture I won't be using your website again and will in turn as my right inform friends and family of this bad experience and this could lead to them not using you in the near future a thing that could not only be avoided but also vost you repeat business. I travel a lot so hopefully you will do the right thing and try and keep your custom ers happy and I am not being unreasonable I just deserve better so hopefully you can resolve this and hope we can continue to have a good relationship business wise in the future. Great location, the room is spacious and clean, even breakfast have huge selections.

I'd heard a lot about how bad this hotel was (after booking it ) Anyway we went ahead with 1 night to see Take That at co op arena. Entrance is very grand , staff at reception very polite . Room basic 2 beds , tea coffee in room . Bathroom again had seen better days but was spotless as where bedding and towels This place may have seen better , grander times but at 49 per night for 2 you couldn't complain because there was nothing to complain about

The hotel reception area is stunning, the staff are helpful and accommodating but not to smiley. I only booked a basic room but so can only speak for that type, it was clean and functional but dated, this does reflect in the price though, but what I struggled with was the height and size of the windows, I know the hotel owner can't do anything about it but if you are claustrophobic, you might want to check the window situation in the room you book as the basic rooms felt to me like a prison cell, so be warned, you might want top spend a bit more for a room with a real window.

Aware the room booked (being twin) had no window. After check in (in which they assumed there were 2 persons as twin and 2 breakfasts) found room which was on the 3rd floor, right down the very end of a corridor, which had a ceiling light which should have 3 bulbs although 2 were missing making the room very dark. Went down to desk to explain and on inspection told to use my bedside lamp as maintenance man not working. If they gave me 2 bulbs I would have put them in myself. Expressed my disappointment and told they could upgrade me for an additional fee. Wasn't prepared to pay any more. Being a female on her own they didn't do anything to make me feel safe at all. Room itself pretty basic but moreover in extreme need of an upgrade. Wanted to unwind a bit after long journey and went to the bar at 3.50pm which was supposed to be open till 5pm and despite a few customers in was told they were now closed. The other lounge was not yet open and security guard told me I could go out and purchase some alcohol and bring back to my room. Again didn't find this helpful. Breakfast was self-service and despite going down early they had run out of a lot of items. In fact there was no bread for toast so had to ask assistant who, to be fair, went and replenished same immediately. She was the most helpful member of staff I came across. Despite the short time spent in the dining area I heard continually guests asking for various items which had run out. Overall not impressed with my stay and would not stay here again or recommend.
