Beautiful peaceful location with excellent staff. Very small bedroom but numerous lounge areas which would make it very suitable for groups of family or friends. Paid for a mountain view but couldn't see them because trees obstructed the view. Guests should be aware that the property is about 15 kilometres before the town of Mantegias and is quite isolated.

What a lovely mountain retreat! A very helpful welcome, drinks in the fire lit living room, a fine menu for dinner and buffet breakfast, and we were given instructions (and a picnic lunch) for a beautiful hike. We also recommend the free tour of the Burel factory in Mantiegas

Excellent service with view, well designed rooms. Kitchen is best we have found in Portugal. Vegetarian, gluten free options, well served and plated. Rooms are small, no elevator. Staff is available to carry bags and address every request including laundry.

Wonderful relaxed athmosfere, helphul staff, they evens sent our forgotten clothes back home. Superb! The walks are nice. The food famulous and the design of the interior is great. Great to visit with a family

We simply loved this hotel, partly for its location in the glorious Sierra de Estrella - a worthwhile drive to reach the peak of the road and experience the genuinely stunning views - and partly for its effortless, relaxed style - a mountain lodge with a gentle ski vibe - but above all for the superb quality of the staff. This team have service down to a tee, with everything done superbly to make your stay special. This extended from the front desk through to the lovely restaurant staff, who delivered excellent genuinely local fare, cooked to perfection. The public areas are relaxed and spacious, with extensive use made of the local burel fabric, a previously dying process of sheep's wool preparation that has been rescued (apparently) by the hotel owners - what an outstanding idea. A visit to the factory (free) is arranged daily and is fascinating. Side-note: the sister hotel down the road at Sao Lourenco has some absolutely exquisite examples of wall coverings using burel - worth a visit just to see that; if you do one of the hotel-organised guided walks they start at Sao Lourenco so you get to see this along with enjoying their free afternoon snack and coffee. We had the large (72 sq.m) suite which was wonderfully comfortable and well-equipped, with a super comfortable large bed as well as a huge bath in it's own separate area. The indoor pool is pleasant, and while we didn't use it there's a sizeable spa suite. All in all a very special experience and we would love to return to savour more of this beautiful and surprising area.

A real Scandinavian type of experience. Terrific accomodations and hospitality. Hosts were extremely helpful with our groups needs from riding in the rain most of the day. A very relaxing and enjoyable location.
