Amazing time hanging out at the hotel during the week we stayed on Wolfe Island. Friends stayed in the rooms and commented how spacious and well equipped they are. I was mainly in the bar 🥳 and restaurant across the road which are great. Lovely food, great service, talented musicians and a super relaxed and welcoming space. Particularly enjoyed our last night having dinner outside as the sun set over the lake. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking to unwind and relax, with still a buzz and plenty to do, this is the place for you! Chris, Tom and the team bent over backwards to make our family reunion so special. Live music (and they were SO good, the place was packed), tasty food (I’d highly recommend the fish tacos & they catered perfectly for a peanut allergy if that puts your mind at rest), water sports, local artists, boat trips, local market, perfect accommodation (we had the little blue house actually on the lake which is part of the hotel complex), we literally couldn’t have asked for more. We’ll be back (all the way from the UK)!!

We visited for a multigenerational family reunion and everyone had an amazing stay. The hotel team were very warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious ( they have a brilliant chef who was really accommodating and friendly too). The restaurant on the dock was lovely to watch the sunset and listen to live music. Our apartment was spacious with great views from the balcony. There was a farmers market out front during our stay which was lovely for local souvenirs from the Island. Thank you to Chris, Tom and the team for looking after us so well.

I loved this place. Truly warm and friendly staff with interesting stories and some incredible musicians playing there regularly. Ask about the beautiful restored Steinway in the dining room! The food was delicious, especially the fish Tacos! Right near the waters edge where it's possible to swim and hire watersports stuff and at the weekend there was a really cute farmer's market right outside. Really enjoyed staying here, thank you! 🙂

The Hotel is pretty much the only game in town and we were there for a concert on site, and a stay that night. The room was clean, king bed, nice view (although screens and windows were filthy) had a coffee maker, several coffee pods, sugar (no cream) and 2 cups. The bathroom was clean and adequate, no glass for water, basic necessities, 2 towels, 2 wash cloths. Never saw anyone at check in (or front desk) as staff were all buzzing around getting ready for the show, but self check in worked a charm. The music venue, is....OK. The sound was not that great from where we sat near the back of the room. Anyone sitting to either side had obstructed views due to the speakers, which is very unfortunate (Never did see the guitar player, or the drummer....lol). Since the owner is a musician, I really expected better in this department. The Restaurant, (only outside was open). The food was....meh. Again, they claim a 2 star Micheline chef, so we expected way better. We had both lunch and dinner. Burger tasted exactly like Harveys, since it's a $20 burger, that's not a good thing, plus it was suppose to come with salad, but they were apparently either out, or it was a mistake on the menu, the waiter wasn't sure. Fish and chips were ok, but no idea what the fish was, as when we asked the waiter, he told us he had a bad memory and it was some local white fish, the fries, frozen. Dinner was busy due to the show, we both had the 1/2 chicken (one chimichuri, the other honey garlic) with arugula salad, and roasted veggies. We both got the wrong sauce and never did get the right one. Salad and veggies were best part of the meal. All in all, glad we went, we had never visited the island, but the only reason I could ever see going back would have been for another show, but that is doubtful as the venue just didn't cut it for us.

Self check in was easy. The stay was not good . The overall room was dusty there was dust on everything. Multiple stains on sheets and covers. Big red stains that looked like blood. I don’t know how anyone who made that bed could have missed them so I believe sheets were never changed. Thankfully we had a sleeping blanket in our truck we could use . I would not recommend.

We have dined a couple of times now at the hotel and the food has been excellent. Homemade crab cakes with a great sauce, a little bite and arugula, delicious. The beef dip on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries a great sandwich. Had enough to have leftovers to take home. Coq au vin with chicken leg, mushrooms, Pearl onions, mashed potatoes and of course that wonderful rich wine sauce. Thoroughly enjoyable. We were excited for dessert and had homemade ice cream sandwich. Was enough to share and sweet and tasty. Look forward to more creations from a 2 Star Michelin Chef. Only suggestion would be to not let customers beverages ( wine get empty).

The apartment suite had everything I needed to be comfortable and relax. Although I was there for a workshop, there was ample time to relax and this was the right place to do it. The restaurant's food was delicious, and it was fantastic sitting dockside listening to live music. A little solo yoga on the balcony was a bonus each morning, as well as coffee in our kitchen. The little market was a couple of blocks away, as well as another great place to eat--The WIPP. This location was perfect for all of it.

We visited Wolfe Island to do some ancestry research and some cycling. We read reviews and since the Hotel Wolfe Island is the only hotel on the island we decided to stay there. I didn’t have unrealistic expectations - I have stayed in all kinds of places and depending on the purpose of my visit, I pretty much know what I am getting before arrival. I knew the HWI was not going to be anything fancy. It wasn’t and that’s okay. What I liked? The price. The room we stayed in was scrupulously clean. The view was of the bay (we picked the room for that reason). Self-check in was easy. The location was in the center of Marysville ( understanding that downtown Marysville consists of one consistently open restaurant and one very small “mercantile-like” grocery store). Don’t get me wrong - it was charming! The hotel worked for us because we were at the island for a specific purpose and we are flexible as long as we are safe, comfortable and can find food. It worked. Having said all of this, I would not recommend the hotel if your expectations are that you will be staying somewhere with the “usual” hotel amenities. The place is basic. Our room had a refrigerator (because we made sure of it before booking), no microwave, no air conditioning, no regularly open restaurant (we found out afterward that the attached restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, open on Wednesday, closed on Thursday and supposedly opening the Friday we left.) We were flexible and though disappointed, we worked it out…. Also know that the restaurant is very focused on bringing in bands which can be very loud and heard throughout the rooms. And thank God for the pub next door which served breakfast, lunch and dinner. Without that we would not have been able to stay! There were no housekeeping services while there. Not a big deal, I found the supply closet and helped myself to clean towels, etc. The rooms had a very small one-cup coffee maker, not a Keurig. I drank tea which I could make using the coffee maker. All in all the rooms are pretty bare bones but once I got used to fending for myself, I was quite comfortable. It is difficult to describe this place. The best advice I can give is that you visit the island for its stunningly beautiful scenery, it’s incredibly friendly people, it’s rich history and, if you are a cyclist, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful to place to ride. We were okay with it because we knew exactly what we wanted from our visit and since we were out and about the place worked for us. It was more like a very comfortable retreat center than a “typical” hotel. More like a motel perhaps. It was definitely quirky. It wasn’t a bad place and we were comfortable while there, but be prepared to be flexible with your expectations.
