Solana Beach Mauritius - Adults Only

I had a horrible experience here. First of all I was only here for a night and I was all alone. The room I got was good. But at 7pm while I was in the bathtub NAKED, I heard someone opening my room door while saying “room service”. This person open the door and then call out room service. I immediately screamed and asked her to get out cause I was naked!! I did not expect any room service at 7pm!!! I was in a total shock! Literally shaking and cried cause I was too shocked somebody walked in to my room while I was naked. When I complained to the night manager, he said I should have put the blue hanging thing outside my door if I don’t want to be disturbed! HOW WUD I KNOW THAT THING SAYS DO NOT DISTURB? It literally doesn’t say anything. See my photos! Also the room door is unsafe. Despite the lock, there is no additional lock from inside and there’s no peephole! Very unsafe for solo travellers. Later that night at 10pm, my AC spoils. So they came to fix and asked me to change room cause it will take longer. They moved me to an older room with wooden floors looking very disgusting. MY BED HAS SAND! I was too tired to make a big fuss so I slept with sand on the bed. Check out is 11am. So at 11.06, room service came knocking asking me to check out. 6 mins late and already come knocking my door . Whereas they wasted my time the night before fixing the AC and making me move to another room. So when I check out, I had to make a big fuss and bring out the Karen in me. They never offered any service recovery until I had to ask for it! No initiative at all after what I have experienced. After a few calls, they offered me 30mins massage, free dinner and late checkout. Yeah that was after I demand a service recovery! Anyway this resort doesn’t provide free water in the room. Not even a bottle. THANK GOD FOR THE BEACH. The only best part about this place.

A lovely hotel set right by the Indian Ocean, we chose a room where you walked straight out a plus we felt. An adults only hotel , The hotel is small, a little tired in places, but doesnt distract from the very good service you get. My only gripe is we were AI but yet we were asked many times to upgrade to seafood dinners or buy a bottle of wine, ( house wine is inc in AI) so be prepared to smile & say no thanks. Food isn't the best cuisine its let's say passable you wont die of hunger but you wont be blown away....and be prepared to sign for everything. Tip if you want bacon in the mornings you have to ask at the egg counter its hidden lol The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the shower was amazing, great pressure loads of hot water. There's a kettle, bring extra t bags , sugar if you like several cuppas a day. There are no local shops to nip out too! In fact just a couple of restaurants and that's it. Taxis are outside the gate if you want to go somewhere or do as we did here a car for a few days. Ie: big supermarket 15 mins away We didnt use the water sports as the weather wasn't great, but there was a glass bottom boat, kayaks, doughnut rides etc, should you want to go. The evenings there was entertainment available....for us night in June were chilly so we didn't stay out late. Yes we would come again but in their summer, it's dark by 5,40pm, chilly at night & windy on this coast.

The therapist Vima was excellent. The massage was amazing and I felt totally relaxed. Just the right pressure and some health recommendations from Vima. Re regular swimming and regular massage to help relaxation and posture. If you have 30 mins and want to get ready to relax for your holiday. Pay the spa & team a visit.

Friendly staff always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay more enjoyable. Extra special spoils for special occasions and funtabulous evening shows and activities throughout the day. Room cleaned day and night with beautiful flower decor every night. Was worth every penny for this unforgettable experience

Second time visiting Mauritius, first time at Solana. What a brilliant hotel it is. Arrived a day late after Air Mauritius cancelled my original flight and met by a very warm welcome from hotel staff. Went and grabbed a quick continental breakfast at 6, and watched the sunrise before falling into the sheets of my very comfortable hotel bed. Room was of a good size and decor overlooking the sea. Cleaned to a good state everyday. Good choice of drinks available on the AI package and staff often remember what I’m drinking. Good selections of food in the buffets and a great meal in Pomelo. It was my birthday while I was there and I got presented with a cake while a dinner which was a lovely little touch, plus a happy birthday message on the blackboard in my room. Great selection of activities for Daytime and evening. Something for everyone. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back again. Finally it goes without saying the staff are what made the experience. Such friendly staff to name a selection off the top of my head - Adriana, Anastasia, Milana and Chris from the entertainment team - you guys rock. And were a pleasure to talk to everyday. Kerwin, Daneesh, Chris, Rita and the rest of the bar and restaurant staff thank you for keeping me fed and watered on a daily basis. Can’t wait to come back again. X
