Manta Cove by Horizon Holidays

We stayed in this complex for the second time, lived here for 3 weeks and it turned out to be a disappointment. The villa is cleaned less often; the pool is cleaned once a week, which is very rare considering that in such weather conditions it is used every day. There are not enough sun loungers on the beach if the complex is fully populated. The sun loungers on the beach are old and dirty. The central fountain is not cleaned, it’s just a swamp, I’ve attached a photo. A separate question to the manager who communicates rudely and disrespectfully with the guests. The staff removes everything from the verandas and the beach to your villa 2-3 days before the cyclone and you, having paid a lot of money, are sitting in a warehouse of furniture in a villa with a closed veranda, a dirty pool, they explain this with concern for our safety, but it would be better to take care of our comfort, because we came on vacation. I would like to draw the attention of Horizon managers to the fact that if cyclones happen so often on the island, then it would be advisable to have a separate room for furniture from the verandas so as not to embarrass the guests. There is a lot of garbage on the beach from the sea that is poorly removed. One of the advantages I would like to note is the location of the complex, close to shops and restaurants.

Together with my wife and kid (4 years) we enjoyed 2 weeks at Manta Cove. We had a appartment for 8 persons and is was very spacious and good furnished. Also the people where very friendly when we arrived after our flight. Frederick is nice, but also the security guy and the ladies that do the cleaning. Frederick is also very open minded for feedback. The place itself we think it’s very nice! Although it’s located at a public beach you don’t stay in a “massive” touristic area like Grand Baie or Blue bay. We like to visit nice and touristic places but we don’t won’t to be in the middle of it with our appartment.

Super thankful and happy about our stay this week. The place is wonderful, peaceful and feel very private as there is a non-crowded beach and very few guests. The host is very helpful and service minded. Some days we ordered a chef to come cook us breakfast and dinner, which was such a pleasure. The other meals we made our selves or went out to restaurants (you usually need to book a table at each restaurant to be able to eat there). The villas are modern, clean, yet still feel like homes and with the pool (not heated) and the ocean right in front of the residence, the experience was unreal. Super glad we found this hidden pearl! Away from most tourists, yet stunning nature around us. We also rented a car to see 7 coloured earth, walk Le Mourne and Tourelle de Tamarin mountain.

To avoid at all costs! We've heard stories and reviews that Horizon never returns deposits but didn't really pay attention to them until the same happened for us... Over a month and a half after checking out from our 1-year stay in a villa in Manta Cove, the deposit still hadn't been returned despite being told that we would receive our full deposit back during our check-out (minus electricity costs). We left the villa in pristine condition. They even told us that they wish everyone took such great care of their homes. After countless calls and messages, we were finally told that we wouldn't get any of our deposit back because 3 pans were damaged, as well as a light switch. But the light switch was already broken when we checked in, and the pans were already damaged! So they have charged us over $110 for the light switch change (which probably would have cost $5), and over $200 for the pans. Unless you are ready to take pictures and document EVERYTHING during your check-in, make sure to avoid staying at Horizon Holidays properties! We know for sure we'll never come back there.

We were there for 7 days to discover the south of the island after we had been in the north for the first week. The hotel is beautiful - it doesn’t matter where you look, it seems like a postcard. The sunsets at the private beach over the sea are truly lovely. The mountain behind the hotel rooms rises high above and makes it a perfect scenery. The rooms were big, clean, well equipped and stylish. The highlight was the private pool on the terrace! The location is great according to the vicinity to Le Morne (Brabant), black river national park and some decent snorkel spots. We had an amazing time and would definitely come back when we’re on Mauritius again!

Great location. Poor service from management. Apartment had a few issues that were not dealt with.
