We've just come back from one of the best holiday in Maritius and having spent almost half of it in the hotel, we have absolutely nothing to complain about. Firstly, the staff are absolutely outstanding! They could not do enough for us, by early evening on our first day, every member of staff knew my dietary requirements and the chefs would come out to see me at each meal and go through what I could/couldn't eat and even prepare me fresh food. The food was excellent and varied day to day, I was especially happy with the Mauritian thalis! The rooms were extremely spacious and always clean, the cleaning staff were so, so lovely and always happy to help. We could hear the sea from our room which was very relaxing and the beach was a 30 second walk away. The staff at the beach hut were great and always helpful, they will also sort trips and car hire etc. The pool area was nice and we loved the swim up bar, we also enjoyed the dodo bar upstairs and were usually the last to leave every night! The cocktails were great but the staff will also make whatever you want it doesn't have to be from the cocktail menu. The management staff were lovely, honestly all the staff were absolutely amazing they will sort out anything you ask, we always stopped and had a chat with them, the resort isn't very big but that made everything more personal which was nice. I really don't understand the negative reviews and we also had the odd few people moaning in the hotel but we had such a great time and would definitely visit again! The staff made us feel like celebrities from start to finish, I even have some of them on social media as we got on so well. Thanks Jalsa for such a fantastic holiday!

Our 3rd visit to Mauritius led us to the Jalsa beach hotel and spa and after the very long trip from theU K. The hotel set in a simply idyllic location surrounded by Palm trees did not disappoint. However not all was as it appeared. Our superior sea view room was spacious air conditioned and included bathrobes and a good size balcony. The room had an enormous double bed which was very comfortable. The bedding was sadly old worn and in some areas stained it was changed regularly but only with similar poor standard stuff. The bathroom was a good size and had a separate W C. The shower was however very good and spacious. The door to the bathroom had no catch so it could not be shut properly and the fittings were very dated. Food at the Jalsa spa sadly in my view was poor. The buffet style restaurant was full of ancient chairs and tables and the actual buffet area was often home to several birds sampling the food. Upstairs is the dodo bar modern venue for entertainment in the evenings. A comfortable area with a large outside area. Sadly this was apparently a smoking area and often spelt strongly of tobacco. The entertainment was poor and the entertainment staff seemed to be happy entertaining themselves not the guests. Out side the grounds were well kept. The pool was good the pool bar very basic but the drinks were fair. A lack of sun loungers meant that the famous British towel placing rush was held each morning inspite of management notices saying it should not be done. The beach is well best left unmentioned as it’s completely unnoteworty. The sea however enables you walk out a long long way in the shallow water which was a bonus. Pedallo and kayaks could rarely be used due to the wind being too strong nothing the hotel could do about that. But, something the hotel could something about are the stray dogs living in the grounds and wandering about day and night. Likewise the cats which dwell on the restaurant terrace and provide an almost continuous meow accompaniment to every meal.. these animals made the place look bad and the staff rarely chased them away or even more rare did the staff chastise the many guests openly feeding these animals and encouraging them into the hotel grounds. This is suppose to be a 4star luxury hotel it isn’t.. it needs new management to address the food quality the entertainment and the pack of dogs roaming round day and night. We did not use the spa or fitness centre nor did anyone else as far as we could see. Mauritius is an amazing island the people are friendly and very hard working it a shame the Jalsa beach lets it down.

Just got back after 15 nights at jalsa bay. Where do I start all the staff were very helpful especially the bar staff and waiters who worked very hard as a team and were always smiling nothing was to much trouble for them at all. The restaurant had plenty of choice of food and there was lots to choose from and if there was something you didn’t like the chef Max would make you anything you wanted. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are well maintained. The grounds of the hotel are kept well and nice to walk around. The only downfall to the hotel there is nothing nearby there is no shop or bar nearby unless you want to get a taxi which is easily arranged or there is the local bus. We made some lovely friends when we were there and as I have said the staff were lovely and we could not fault the hotel at all

Stayed here on Honeymoon. Overall it's very positive. The rooms were lovely, the pool is decent and the staff (for the most part) are very professional. The spa also is amazing and I may have got a bit addicted to that during the 10 night stay. What takes my rating down to a 4 rather than a 5 is as follows: - The all inclusive not starting until 2pm on the day you get there and stopping promptly at 12 on the day you leave. For UK guests, this is a bit of a pain as the direct flight from London gets there very early in the morning and doesn't leave until nearly 10pm so you find yourself just kind of sitting around. I find it hard to believe that letting you have a few soft drinks during that time would bankrupt them. - The choice of food. Don't get me wrong, what there is is lovely and flavorful and ultimately they do as much with the 'buffet room' as they possibly can. That said, after 10 nights, it gets a bit repetitive. - Some of the staff, particularly management. I'm not sure there's anywhere that most people would consider it acceptable to berate staff in front of customers, especially when those customers are waiting for a drink. That's what happened one night in the Dodo Bar and it left a bit of a sour taste. Some of the reviews I've read talk about stray dogs and cats but can't say as I noticed this as a problem. Think I saw a total of 2 dogs and 1 cat in 11 days. The little ginger cat quite likes begging for food at breakfast but he doesn't cause a problem. Also, a lot gets made of the evening entertainment. It certainly isn't Broadway or the West End but considering they are trying to entertain people from a mix of countries, it was pretty good.

Firstly, we had two lovely weeks in Mauritius and met some fantastic people at the Jalsa Beach hotel. Every member of staff were a delight and went beyond the call of duty to assist and help in anyway they could. It’s obvious that all members work very hard and they could do with a bit more help from the managers above. I must add that two members of staff that helped enormously during our stay and this should be highlighted. My room maid Pallavi and Shahana - in the restaurant - both are excellent at their jobs but also very good people and added to our time on holiday. I would like to put it on record to say thank you to both. The hotel itself is a different story as the facilities do require a major upgrade. From the pool to the gym the building infrastructure has not been kept to the required standards that you would expect from a 4 star hotel - as stated in the brochure.

Some recent reports are totally misleading it's a great place. Our room overlooked the bay and pool. Our room wash huge clean and well presented. The bathroom and large. The food was great and always very tasty. All the staff are very professional and very friendly. The entertainment was good. And the ground are beautiful and full of interesting birds and dragonflies.
