B&b is in the Middleton of nowhere.

Quite isolated between a few fields not far from Belderrig Pier, this B&B is as quiet as can be. As a previous fisherman and boat owner, host Stephen is a very chatty, funny local character full of good stories on the area, whom you would listen to for hours on end, a great exponent of the Irish welcome at its best. The room was comfortable with more than decent beds, which made for a great night's sleep. A full Irish breakfast was served in the morning in a dining room full of boxes, themselves filled with all sorts of knick-knack, decorations, etc. You had the feeling you were intruding on the owners when they were tidying up the place, yet the a**osphere remained very convivial, and the breakfast itself was expertly cooked and most agreeably filling. This is an out-of-the-way B&B as you need not miss the turn when passing Belderrig on the main road, but find it and you shall not regret spending a night (or two) there.

Stephen and Eileen could not have been better hosts! We needed somewhere to decompress and also somewhere very dog friendly and it was perfect! Kylo was welcomed with open arms and for us that was the most important thing! He’s a precious dog to us and there are so few places that really welcome pets that this was a real gem

This september I was traveling through Ireland with my friends. We had been there for only a few days when we'd spent the night at the Yellow Rose. When we arrived we were welcomed by Eileen and Steven. They just couldn't give us our space. Even though the rooms were okay for us, they would constantly talk to us. It's probably out of good will, but it felt like there was no privacy AT ALL. We asked Eileen if there were any restaurants around the area, on which she annoyingly applied: "There is NOT any. You want chicken or something?!". She made us dinner, but OH MY GOD. When I tell you it was the most awful dinner i've ever had, i'm still being nice about it. They served us the most disgusting vegetables, chicken and potatoes i've ever eaten. I FELT MY STOMACH TURN MULTIPLE TIMES?!?!. The vegetables must have been almost 20 years old, it made me gag. After dinner we got dessert, which wasn't even better. After trying to eat it, because ofcourse, we were hungry. I felt my stomach turn for tbe last time. I ran to the toilet and the food came out. If you're reading this review, please know that the first picture of the food as shown for The Yellow Rose is almost exactly the dinner you'll be served there. It makes me even nauseous to look at it. DISGUSTING. The morning after this horrible experience of awful food and no privacy at all we got the bill for the food. They asked 20 euros per person and 5 euros each for the guiness we drank. I'm sorry but are you okay for this?!?! Put that 20 euros were the sun doesnt shine. I wouldnt even pay 1 euro for the absolute dog dinner i've gotten served. I'd rather had not eaten at all. Normally my friends and i like to sleep until late before heading out to our new hotel, but that day we decided to leave immediately after breakfast. I never write any reviews, but due to this bizarre and traumatising experience i had to.

Spent one night in the company of the hosts - Stephen & Eileen - who were warm, friendly and generous throughout my stay there. My room was large, clean, well-equipped. Breakfast was very generous and nice to get ahead of a long day on the bike. The B & B is perfectly located off the beaten path but close enough to everything you need. Highly recommended.

We weren’t sure what to expect when visiting this B&B. My wife and I visited on our second trip to Ireland and this was near our planned visit to downpatrick head and ceide fields. Te be honest it was more like visiting friends. The hosts were so friendly we were honestly sad to leave. We spent the majority of the evening visiting and listening to tales of dramatic sea adventures and heroism. Even the next day we spent extra time just chatting like old friends not wanting to leave. Well worth a stay we couldn’t recommend this place any higher.

I am staying with Stephen and Eileen at present. Steven collected me from the pier and brought me to the house. ( I arrived by kayak. ) Both he and Eileen are friendly warm people who couldn't do enough to help. They are of a generation where this all comes naturally to them. Genuine people who not only share their house but their experiences and friendship with you. Their house is clean and warm and very homely. Room very good and the food was lovely. Fabulous location.
