Essex House Hotel

Good location, service is very good, only problem is the toilet, water is not strong enough.

Compared to the “Clevelander” party hotel next door this is a much quieter hotel offering better standards with superior rooms to the Clevelander. I stayed a few nights at the Clevelander and a couple of nights at the Essex. My stay was made superb by the excellent guest services afforded to me by Godfrey. He sorted everything out aided by his manager and my stay was excellent. The lobby area is huge and very clean and my bedroom was large and well appointed and very clean. The room air condition worked perfectly - it was needed at South beach was hot! The situation is excellent - just a few steps away from Ocean Drive which is the best area in South Beach. I would return.

thank God we only booked this hotel for one night before leaving for our cruise. the bathtub did not drain, the room was definitely not cleaned properly, and it was obvious that housekeeping does not thoroughly clean the rooms every day. the housekeeping was not good at all. the entire hotel also felt extremely outdated. not at all like your typical miami hotel. the worst part of our stay was the interaction we had with a security/front-door employee who had dreadlocks and gold teeth. he had a terrible attitude and was incredibly rude. the interaction was so unpleasant that it still upsets me when i think about it. he should not be the first person guests encounter when arriving at the hotel. between his behavior, the lack of cleanliness, and the poor condition of the hotel, i would never book here again.

Essex House exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect, right near the beach and all the restaurants. My room was spacious and VERY clean; I highly recommend getting a suite. The restaurant next to the hotel was fire and I love having pool access and the clevelander property. I would like to personally recognize Dave and Joel for their amazing customer service and hospitality during my stay. I will definitely be back again and again!

Carlos at front desk has been so helpful. His assistance at checkin, his advice when we were going out in Miami and his help with valet parking have been fantastic to make our time in Miami even more enjoyable. This is our first time in Miami and won't be our last thanks to Carlos.
