I have to write this review for the benefit of potential guests AND the hotel itself. Over 30 years, my husband and I have traveled extensively for business and pleasure, but never for a medical reason. One of our friends needed brain surgery at U of Miami hospital. We brought her and her husband to Miami the day prior to surgery and stayed a total of 3 nights. The hotel has a special rate for family of hospital patients. I checked the reviews on TripAdvisor, then reluctantly booked the rooms. The location was perfect for the reason we were there, but based on reviews I wasn’t looking forward to our stay. It’s been 2 days since we checked out and went home. I wanted some time to reflect on everything before writing a review. If you’re reading this and are in a hurry, just let me say, “Don’t pay attention to any of the negative reviews.” After what we read and then what we actually experienced, WOW! What a pleasant surprise. The front entrance to the hotel is small but nice. The hotel lobby is clean and bright. Every employee we encountered at the front desk was not only very professional and well-trained, they were very personable, patient, and helpful. Blanca and Luis are exceptional. In fact, every employee we came into contact with from the restaurant to housekeeping were equally pleasant. Our room was very clean and well-appointed. The hotel is well-constructed and was very quiet at night. Even though the last night of our stay the hotel filled up with cruise customers, it remained very quiet. There is a very nice workout room. Good breakfast offerings, decent restaurant, and secure garage parking. It’s only a 12-minute walk to the hospital. I felt impressed to add my two cents to the Trip Advisor reviews. Based on some I had read before the trip, I arrived at the Springhill Suites mentally braced for a rough stay. I can tell you, I could find no negatives that were within the control of the hotel. The reason for our visit—our friend’s surgery—was stressful to say the least. We were grateful to have a nice place to come back to at the end of each day.
