Upon check in we told the front desk we were going to self-park; they were friendly and told us where to go and stated that the rate was $24 a night. When we scanned our parking ticket the next morning in our room to pay before we checked out it said we owed $68!! I called down to the front desk and the lady I talked to was very pleasant, asked how long we were parked there, and I said 19 hours, and she was even shocked at the price that we had to pay. She said she would check with her manager and give us a call back in our room. After 15-20 minutes of not receiving a call back, we headed down to the front desk to check out and ask about parking. Simon was working at the front desk, and I explained our situation to him. He bluntly and rudely stated that the hotel has nothing to do with parking, as it is a shared ramp with someone else. I acknowledged that but stated that the hotel staff told us at check-in what the parking rate would be. He AGAIN was so rude and said that this was on us and that there was nothing they were going to do about it! My husband and I politely asked to speak to the manager, and Simon told us he would tell us the same thing he told us, that this was on us. We were unable to talk to the manager as Simon gave us an email address. Simon was a terrible person to have at the front desk. He was so rude, non-apologetic about any confusion, he simply did not care at all about the hotel customers. We checked out and then I called Hilton directly to talk about our experience, and they were supportive and friendly. The customer service representative apologized for the lack of customer support and service from Simon and Hilton offered to send us a check for the amount that our parking was. After about an hour the GM from the hotel in Minneapolis called me directly to talk about our experience. I told him about what had happened, what we were told upon check-in and how rude and terrible Simon was. The GM was apologetic and cared about the situation and stated that because of the Timberwolves game the night we stayed, the rates are higher than normal. I realize that but at the same time no one told us about that prior to doing self-parking and if you are staying at the hotel and do not know that a game is going on across the street, how are you to know that your parking will be more than what you expected. The hotel was nice and clean, convenient location, but the parking was a nightmare situation. If you stay here and have an issue regarding your stay, I would not talk with Simon if he is at the front desk. He has been one of the most unfriendly, cold, and uncaring people at a hotel we have seen.
