Eco Village Mission Beach

Had a 4 lovely night stay at the Eco Village earlier in the week. Our bungalow was clean and comfortable, fully screened with louvres to allow the sounds of the nearby ocean in. It was so quiet, except for a couple of days of heavy rain, associated with ex TC Imogen. So nice to hear the sound of rain on the roof, makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the rainforest. Once the sun came out, so did the humidity which the A/C and pool dealt with nicely. The owners were lovely and very accommodating. With the rain around and being in a rainforest setting, there were a few mosquitoes present. I had some spray and Steve dropped over some mozzie coils for us so we could enjoy a wine on our balcony. It should be noted the village restaurant is currently closed, but the walk to the restaurants in Mission was only an easy, 10-15 minutes. The room we had was equipped with some cooking facilities too and a couple of BBQ’s were available to guests too. I look forward to returning in the future 😎

I really can't fault this place, it was a wonderful stay. The staff were all friendly and accommodating, and arranged an early check-in for me which was fabulous. The rooms themselves were beautiful, and had everything I needed to be comfortable for my stay. The bed was like a cloud, I got the best sleep! My room backed onto the pool area, which meant easy swims and lazy afternoons. And there were beach towels at Reception for when my own needed to dry out. The meals at the Pub are tasty and good value. Buffet breakfast was OK, though as I didn't want to leave the resort I was happy to pay for it even though it was probably better value travelling up the road to another place to eat. The resort is five minutes walk from the beach, five minutes walk to the supermarket and has a BWS onsite so very close to everything you need. The only two small things were that the remote room service tap and pay button didn't work in my room (so I needed to order from the bar instead), and there were no curtains in my room (just blockout blinds), which meant little privacy from those next door returning from the pool. But - these things were first world problems in a place that was awesome. Highly recommend!

After a number of nights driving north from Melbourne, this spacious and comfortable apartment was welcomed. Our stay coincided with 185mm rain falling on the first night. Needless to stay sunshine and glorious walks along the beach weren't going to happen. Managed to catch up with washing/drying with in room amenities and appreciated the undercover car park too. Mark and Leanne are discreet, friendly hosts, never far away to help when required.
Big4 Tasman Holiday Parks - South Mission Beach
4.2/530 Reviews
The park is overpriced at $67 a night when competitors in the same area are $10 cheaper per night. In the two weeks we were there, the park went through extensive construction work with concreting, campsite repair and footpath/road repair. This all brought obvious disruption and noise to the guests. The restaurant/cafe was very expensive and sold what we considered subclass meals. Many of the sites needed sand fill-in and were literally bog holes. I understand park maintenance is required but when the park is in a condition like this, guest should be pre-warned and/or the site fees should be lowered accordingly. We have stayed here before several times, but this time was very disappointing. The pool is good, location is good and the staff were very good, in particular Alvera.
Castaways Resort & Spa on Mission Beach

I really don’t know where to start. Sadly, massive disappointment, unfortunately not worth your hard earned money. We arrived and were greeted by a mildly pleasant lady, though not rude, not much engagement or interest in telling us about mission beach and where to find things, we appeared to be a chore. We arrived in our bottom floor room finding this particular room not like the photos, except for the location and view. We paid over $240 a night for a very small pokey room. The fridge was not hot but not cold and the small freezer did not even freeze the water sitting in the ice tray. The TV wouldn’t switch on at all. The remote had no back on it and was rusty and wasn’t working, the maintenance man came to fix very quickly telling us we must of bumped the antenna while plugging our car fridge in (we did not) as the small bar fridge was not cold enough for milk. That’s ok, all fixed. The sliding doors stepped out onto damp soil from humid, rainy weather and there was no mats provided, outside or inside so we couldn’t use that entrance or soil and sand would be tracked through the room which wasn’t hard to do coming from the beach. We were provided two small aluminium chairs, one bent and broken and the other one not much better. We arrived at Buka restaurant, waited 30 minutes for a drink, with no one there, that’s ok, we got up and ordered and bought down our own drinks, that’s no problem but it is supposed to be table service. However, the cocktail by the young English guy was superb. Another time we came for an afternoon drink at Buka restaurant we asked the receptionist should we just go thru or wait to be seated even tho there was no customers, she didn’t even look up from her keyboard and said curtly that’s not my area you’ll have to go over and ask. Mind you the bat person was 3 mtrs away.. This particular receptionist was most unfriendly at each encounter. We avoided her completely. The beach is stunning and absolutely beautiful surroundings, it a shame we experienced terrible service time and time again. Definitely not a “resort”. it is clear Castaways Resort is not maintained well and very untidy in some areas. Many pool tiles fallen off, the garden with frangipani tree in the middle of the restaurant has a broken garden light sitting in between a whole lot of dead leaves, the building has rust areas throughout, it is tired with tables rusted and timber flooring needing attention, and not maintained to an acceptable level for what you pay for. We then returned that evening and waited an hour for dinner to arrive, without our cutlery, which we had to go find. We were told they were short staffed, that’s ok we can understand this happens. In the morning we waited an hour for breakfast, with only 2 other guests, it arrived sans cutlery again. We asked for a room clean, the floor was not cleaned, the bed was made and towels provided, that’s all. Lunch was an hour late again, we had to go up and order which is not a problem, but it
