We are booking again for next year A WONDERFUL holiday – we are back home feeling so relaxed thanks to the wonderful staff at this hotel. I should start by saying that my wife and I are both in our mid 70’s so we don’t want a real activity or disco holiday. Incredible value for money and you do have to consider that this was literally one THIRD of the price that we paid for the last 2 years at another hotel. We had the best room in the hotel – 202 although 201 is almost as good. Private pool, huge bed which was really comfortable, shower with the best water pressure of any hotel I have ever stayed in in Greece. We had a couple of unavoidable minor problems during our stay (flat battery in the safe and a blown light bulb) which were attended to very promptly. In September our pool was warm enough to use by 10:00 but the sun went off of it by 3:00 pm. Early in the season it might be hard to get in the shade. This is an all-inclusive hotel – food drinks, everything. So to the food. A good choice of restaurants. We were very confused when we checked in because one restaurant is Asian in the evening but Greek at lunchtime. Another restaurant has a Peruvian/Japanese menu but on three nights it has different menus INSTEAD of the standard menu. We tried them all. Being really picky and the following points are really minor, we were disappointed in the Cretan evening. The music was rubbish – surely it should be Greek music? The roll served needed butter (or oil/vinegar) and there was an ice bucket by the side but our chilled wine was left on the table. If we didn’t enjoy any meal, we could still go to the buffet afterwards. The buffet is very good with lots of tasty foods. Four stands – cold, hot, fruit, desserts and plenty of fresh fruit as well. There is a Greek/Italian restaurant which is street food (Gyros or Pizza or Pasta) but we prefer fine dining. There is a great selection of local restaurants in Elounda (see separate revues for Vachus, Perigali, Kaarens and Nikos) or Plaka (see separate review for Giovanni) and a huge selection at nearby Agios Nikalaos (but we never managed to get there) There is a snack bar menu which we did not try. And the drinks.. Lots of them and very very good. Decent cocktail menu which we worked through several times all excellently made and served. The white and rose Monograph wines were excellent and the sparkling rose I had 2 glasses of most lunchtimes was wonderful And they are all included. Wonderful. A minor complaint is that some days we found the bar to be very hot. It does need better air conditioning. It has mixed seating including tables with chairs where we could sit and play cards after dinner with a few cocktails. Our biggest complaint was that on Monday and Friday there was ?Disco? music that was to our ears total rubbish and was so loud you couldn’t think. Several people complained and left the bar but it carried on. The saving grace is that they stop at 11. I am informed by the mana
