Our extended family of 6 adults and 3 children (aged 6 to 9 years old) enjoyed a Father's Day lunch at the Beeches restaurant. We booked over the telephone in advance and advised of an adult wheelchair user which was no problem at all. We have previously enjoyed private dining in the Library room here and we find the restaurant very accessible, warm and friendly. Staff as ever are great and efficient. Food was enjoyed by all. Fish n chips delicious as was the sea bass. Kids enjoyed their meals with the burgers a big hit. Overall, a lovely treat for Father's Day. Enjoy!

This hotel is really in Broughty Ferry, it's about 5 miles to the east of the Dundee attractions such as the V&A etc. However you're close Broughty Ferry beach and there's plenty of free parking at the hotel. Room prices are quite affordable, I paid £86 for a small double on a Friday when the hotel was busy with families on holiday. There's large function rooms, when I was there they were hosting a prom for the local college students. The good news is that there's quiet rooms (I was in 123) where you're isolated from music and noise from the bar and outside terrace. One rather alarming thing was the bedroom window opening restrictor wasn't attached so I could fully swing open the window - bear in mind I was on an upper floor. Room facilities were as you'd expect for 3*, I've certainly seen smaller rooms although the shower-only bathroom was quite small. The bathroom was a little tired. I did find Wi-Fi quite slow in the room, but it was sufficient to stream YouTube. For dinner I went with chicken pate and fish and chips. The pate was nice, but on the plate it was presented looking exactly like the 'poo' icon. Fish and chips was well cooked and tasty. Breakfast was an all buffet affair, slightly disappointing the croissants were pre-packed in cellophane and bit stodgy. TBH I was between 3 and 4 starts for this hotel, given the low price I plumped for 4.

Great arrival greeting and service from the reception and bar staff as we arrived around 10.30pm. Room was small for a twin but comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great and a lot of choice. All the staff were friendly and more than helpful. Would highly recommend.

We stayed only one night, which was Friday into Saturday. We arrived early 1pmish to be told check in is 4pm. We booked through another webpage and this was probably our error and to be fair I rechecked their website later and it is there but fairly low down on their list. We also discovered there was no lift (who has no lift these days, especially given disability considerations) and we were on 2 separate higher up floors, this was a problem as my friend who is a chronic asthmatic. We were informed if we paid £13 extra each we could have ground floor rooms, with slightly larger beds and they were across the hall from each other, we took this offer. The Manager working with the receptionist were very helpful and accommodating. The rooms themselves were tired and dated, the net curtains were crusty and hard and definitely needed washing, the rest would have been fine except for the thick dust all around the edge of the room, several inches wide behind the door and very thick under the dressing table and night stands (all had legs which enabled it to be easily seen on a dark blue carpet). The rest of the room was clean and tidy. We were going out for a while and did ask at reception if they could sort the dust out in my friends room when we went out for several hours, but on returning back 4 hours later they had not dobe anything. We decided not to ask again as it hadnt hone down well with the receptionist the first time, albeit we tried our level best to ask as nicely as we could, so not to offend. With her asthmatic issues she also has dust mite issues so her night there wasn't as comfortable as it could've been. That said, alyhough my room was just as dusty i dont suffer either cobdition so i was ok. The rest of the stay was good. The dinner in the restaurant is excellent, really good in fact, good choice, well cooked and presented, breakfast was the same (with the exception of "gray looking" tottie scones which were not at all nice), but everything else was lovely. The restaurant staff were very nice and helpful, we asked for poached eggs and they were perfect. The public toilets were very clean and looked recently refurbished. All in all with some adjustments to the room cleaning I would stay here again, the grounds are lovely and the night we stayed the hotel was peaceful and quiet.

Stayed here after my Son's wedding, which was also in the Hotel. Great Hotel, staff are friendly and welcoming. Wedding was well organised. Room was beautiful loved the thistles on curtains and wallpaper. Big double room, with a lovely new bathroom. Loved the colours and design. Tasty breakfast with a big selection.

My partner & I were gifted a stay here as an engagement present, and unfortunately it was quite a let down for - what should have been - a very special night away. On arrival for our early check-in, we had a quick turnaround for a massage at the leisure facilities. The massage was very relaxing. Unfortunately, after that, very little else about our stay could be described as ‘relaxing’. On our arrival to our room, there were dead bugs on the floor behind the door suggesting that it hadn’t been hoovered properly. When we sat on the mattress, a large moth flew out from underneath bedding. As it turned out, the corridor was infested with them - quite literally dozens of moths lining the walls, ceilings & doors. We reported this to reception on our way out for lunch in the town centre. When we came back, an hour & a half later, the issue had not been dealt with. We had to then report it again on our way to use the pool/spa facilities. Despite being a guest at the hotel, the use of the pool area was charged for at a rate of £7.50 per person. The pool area was in dire need of a refurbishment, and the roof was lined in mould. On our way back to our room, reception advised that the issue had been dealt with. Whilst it was certainly an improvement, there were still several moths lining the corridor. Throughout the night, we had to deal with multiple moths in our room, which made for a less than relaxing night’s stay. On check-out, reception opted to deduct our £15 of charges for the leisure facilities given the situation, and that is quite honestly the only reason this review isn’t 1 star. It is quite sad that a hotel in such a nice location has clearly been left to tire, accumulate dirt & become - quite literally - infested with bugs, and it was so disappointing that a night away to celebrate our engagement was spent fending off insects & not wanting to leave our room.

I have been to this hotel before so I knew what to expect. The rooms previously were in need of updating but I was delighted to see that the one allocated had been refurbished and it was nice. I decided on this hotel because of the leisure facilities. I was disappointed to find out after I had made the non refundable booking that these came at a cost. As I been here before and this was not the case I didn't think to check. I got a good rate for the room so it wouldn't have been a deal breaker. Two days prior to arriving I received an email saying the pool was closed due to an incident. I wasn't told what this was and I wasn't offered a refund. I could have booked accommodation in the centre of town which would have been more convenient. On arrival at the hotel and when I mentioned the pool situation the member of reception staff looked uninterested and did not mention that I could use the sauna and steam room. On checking out of the hotel the reception staff barely acknowledged me. It was all very disappointing. On a positive, the lady in charge of housekeeping contacted us when we arrived in our room to ask if the room met our requirements. It did but we appreciated the customer service. The reception staff could learn from this. Not sure if I would go back again.
