My partner & I were gifted a stay here as an engagement present, and unfortunately it was quite a let down for - what should have been - a very special night away. On arrival for our early check-in, we had a quick turnaround for a massage at the leisure facilities. The massage was very relaxing. Unfortunately, after that, very little else about our stay could be described as ‘relaxing’. On our arrival to our room, there were dead bugs on the floor behind the door suggesting that it hadn’t been hoovered properly. When we sat on the mattress, a large moth flew out from underneath bedding. As it turned out, the corridor was infested with them - quite literally dozens of moths lining the walls, ceilings & doors. We reported this to reception on our way out for lunch in the town centre. When we came back, an hour & a half later, the issue had not been dealt with. We had to then report it again on our way to use the pool/spa facilities. Despite being a guest at the hotel, the use of the pool area was charged for at a rate of £7.50 per person. The pool area was in dire need of a refurbishment, and the roof was lined in mould. On our way back to our room, reception advised that the issue had been dealt with. Whilst it was certainly an improvement, there were still several moths lining the corridor. Throughout the night, we had to deal with multiple moths in our room, which made for a less than relaxing night’s stay. On check-out, reception opted to deduct our £15 of charges for the leisure facilities given the situation, and that is quite honestly the only reason this review isn’t 1 star. It is quite sad that a hotel in such a nice location has clearly been left to tire, accumulate dirt & become - quite literally - infested with bugs, and it was so disappointing that a night away to celebrate our engagement was spent fending off insects & not wanting to leave our room.
