Sandals Montego Bay (Smb)

For the Butler room it was beyond expectations, small, a/c on its last leg, no ventaliation in bathroom caused heat and humidity. We have been to many other Sandals with a butler experience and this by far was the worst. We will not be staying here again.

Had just a wonderful trip which included Club MoBay. Only bad part was return Via Charlette. Never never never return through Charlette, enough said. Room was great #411, just the best. The staff was great especially sports, entertainment, loyalty, gourmet, room etc. Chris E. was great and addressed any issues etc. Loved volleyball every day and Marlon. Ate every where we wanted by checking in when arrived. Loved Dalton's trip and stops around Jamaica.

OVERALL WELL DONE. GENERALLY RESTURANTS ARE QUALITY DINNING. STAFF OVERALL ARE EXCELLANT. BUTLERS STEVEN & MARVIN DID THEIR USUAL SUPERIOR JOB. DUNCAN IN LOYALTY OFFICE IS AN ASSET. SPECIAL MENTION: FRANK - JERKSHOP, HENRY - BASYSIDE AND THE GIFTSHOP STAFF. BARS WELL STOCKED AND BARTENDERS GENERALLY ATTENTIVE. MEALS WERE WELL HANDLED & BUTCHS & ITALIAN RESTAURANTS ARE TOP NOTCH

Our trip was absolutely amazing! From the planning of our wedding to the evening entertainment everything was top notch. We would highly recommend to anyone who is planning to get married. The Wedding planners are some of the best along with the entire staff.

My girlfriend and I went to Sandals Montego Bay for an easy birthday getaway. We stayed at Sandals with a butler and everything was great… the last few nights when we were assigned a great, hard-working and perfect butler. The first few nights, we had a different butler, didn’t go above and beyond, and was very entitled, even seemed shameful when not constantly receiving tips (even given no-tip policy). Other than that, the resort is beautiful, our room was great, the activities were very fun, and all-in-all had a great time!

Apart from a couple of issues with the air conditioning in our room, we were happy with the resort, we stayed in the beachfront oversized Butler suite, then we were moved to the millionaire's beachfront suite because of the air con problem, which was lovely, although we were more than happy with our first room, would recommend either, staff are amazing especially our butlers Swaby and Chaira, the grounds are pristine, apart from butchs and the bayside breakfast buffet, the other restaurants were hit and miss, very inconsistent when they got it right the food was good but when they got it wrong it was bad. Butchs was superb, we were lucky we managed to get booked in there 3 times by our butlers but apparently quite a few guests couldn't get booked at all, the bayside breakfast buffet was excellent, lots of choice, room service was also hit and miss. If you dont have butlers or not up before 6.30 you will struggle to get a umbrella on the beach. In our opinion over the years it looks like the resort has expanded by adding quite a few more rooms but haven't expanded the restaurants and services, there are no restrooms near bayside, oleander, the Italian restaurants, the nearest restrooms are in the living room or one of the pools, so you have to leave the restaurants and trek to the nearest loo, not great especially when its raining. Entertainment wasn't great at this resort in comparison to other resorts, although we did enjoy the jamaican night, the other nights were 5 year olds party games, probably ok for guests that had been none stop drinking all day lol, maybe up the budget for the evening entertainment. We found the cats a nuisance, some loved them, maybe be careful if your digging for shells etc around your sunbeds there isn't any kitty litter trays, so you might get a surprise, apart from that the resort is spotlessly clean. All the staff are friendly and most of them are helpful. We would recommend the Butler service for this resort. If you prefer the livelier sandals resort then you will enjoy MBJ, would we return, possibly, but there are.a few more sandal resorts we would like to visit first. We have always loved SMB! After 6 previous visits, this was our first trip back after the pandemic, and it was underwhelming. While the grounds were as magnificent as we remembered, the room we stayed in was not. We stayed in the Palms building 2nd floor with butler service. The air conditioning unit kept the room very cool, though it rattled to the point we couldn't sleep. I ended up adjusting/pushing on the case cover myself to quiet it down. The shower was a bit of a problem, there was no fixed head other than the "rain-drop" overhead feature. Other than that it was a hand held fixture. There was no boundary to prevent shower water from flowing out into the rest of the bathroom. After an extended shower, we noticed water flowing from the shower out into the room itself! (Was this a wheelchair accessible room?) If so, we were not informed it was this type of room. We chose to deal with it, as we were told the resort was full. As for the room, it was neat as we expected except for the rug which the bed was positioned on. The rug appeared to be very dirty! We had to spread beach towels on the floor, so we wouldn't have to step on it while sliding into our slippers. I did not expect this as we have always had pristine rooms in the past. Butler service was good, as was room service and the daily housekeeping. We did notice that the wait staff in the restaurants was not as good as we remembered. The Bayside breakfast staff was great. But the evening services were lacking. We enjoyed the Tokyo Joes' meal despite the food taking so long to arrive. The following night we tried the Bayside's french menu. Again, we waited over 35 minutes for our entree to be served. Next we tried the Oleander, which has always been our favorite. It was terrible. First, the entrance door was malfunctioning to where it would not stay closed. This allowed hot night air and mosquitoes to enter. My wife kept watching the door because of the stray cats prowling nearby. A couple times we got up and closed it. However we saw wait staff notice the open door and they did nothing! Secondly, we must have waited 45 minutes for our entree, during that time I received my appetizer, but my wife didn't. Upon asking why, we found they were out of the dish she had requested. Why werent we told this at the time of ordering?? We also noticed tables not being cleared after guests had departed, though other couples we were waiting for a table. Lastly, it seemed that there was more than enough wait staff walking around but not really doing anything! When the food arrived it was not good. The beef ***** was too tough to chew. The shrimp dish my wife ordered was over seasoned. After eating the mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables, we gave up and left. We ordered room service - BLT's and fries. Not only did it taste great but it arrived quickly! We don't know if we will return to this resort in the future, though it is our favorite relaxing spot. The staff were absolutely wonderful, the resort was beautiful, however, our vacation started off by having to wait an hour and a half for our room to be ready! We couldn't make any dinner reservations until we had our room, but we made our reservation for Butches as soon as we could and was told that the earliest, we could get in was 6 days later for 8:30pm, which was ridiculous! A lot of things were not as advertised. We booked the Catamaran Cruise which said it started at 10:00am, however, we were not told that the cruise left from another resort, which was 2 1/2-hour drive away, so we had to leave at 6:25am. The Luminous Lagoon Experience was a total sham! The boat took us in too deep of water and so there was no glowing! waste of time and money. Went to the supposedly French lunch buffet, and it was American food, not French! The Caribbean Beach Celebration was an advertisement for a new restaurant that was opening and then a couple's game contest, the only celebration came at the very end, with fire dancers. The dress code wasn't enforced. We went to the Bombay and there was a guy dressed in jean shorts, a tie-dye tee shirt and flip flops. Places were closing earlier than advertised. We went to the Cafe de France at 9:45pm and it was already shut down and some of the restaurants were clearing away way before the closing time. We would never go to this resort again!

First time at Sandals MB. Food was good. Drinks were good. Massages were amazing. Thank you Alexica and Carlene in the Spa. Other Service was not so good. Got eye rolls at Oleander when checking in for dinner. Asked a female staff member to take our picture she acted like that was such a chore. Gift shop staff rude. Housekeeping was amazing. Room service was great and pretty fast. Entertainment …. there is not much at night. No good shows. Sandals needs more live music and entertainment. AC not working got up to 86 in the room and never seen anyone after calling to report it on the last day. Overall I don’t think I will ever come back or go to another Sandals. I came 7 years ago to Iberostar Grand Rose Montego Bay the pool swim up was so much better and bigger. The service and entertainment at night was much better and the people went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Maybe just a new era of people or workers but not impressed Sandals.
